Cliffs of Dover will not start

I bought and received Cliffs of Dover last week.  I have tried unsuccessfully to get it to start after installing it.  Here is my setup:

 

PC with i5 second gen. CPU

16 GB RAM

C: is a 256 GB SSD with about 150GB remaining empty.

D: is a 1 TB HD.

Graphics Board: GeForce GTX 660 Ti with 1GB memory

OS: Windows 8 Pro

 

I have installed, tried, uninstalled, reinstalled, tried, uninstalled, and reinstalled for the third time and tried to start the program.  All it does it for a few seconds, go to a black menu and disappear after 4-5 seconds [see attached file].  Nothing happens. I double click on start again and we go through the same loop.  Support gave me 4 things to do.  I did each one of them. Still the same loop.  I'm about ready to return the game since all this looping is driving me nuts.  Does anyone have any other ideas onhow to get it to work?
