PWCG For Tank Crew

Recommended Posts

I actually ended up finding a fix for this, the files for the t34 76 utz and stz variants and the panzer variants are like switched or something in the files. I just went in and changes some of the names and it fixed it. I will post an update with specifics if i can remember it.

Help can you tell me what I can try to do to make sure I put the skins I want, because I select them for individual tankers in the section where you choose the skins, which you select turn red, and then you create the missions because vice versa is not possible, let's say that it's not exactly the same as that of the planes there are fewer functions, PWCGCT is still fantastic and has incredible potential, don't forget it, it's absurd, it would be enough to at least improve the A.I. Come on please and believe me I'm not the only one with hopes, this would be the solution to all our hopes, you could also add any tank!!

Good afternoon, Patrick. Can you tell me how to add STUG III to your mission generator yourself? I want to play on this tank. This is a legendary machine with a huge combat biography, which fought on all fronts of WW II from 1939 to 1945. You pay a lot of attention to virtual pilots, but you completely forgot about us virtual tankers))))). With great respect, a regular user of your tank program.

hello, I've been thinking a lot about this PWCGTC, yes there are things that need to be fixed, and it would be great if the team took some time to improve it because the idea is really great, but I know it's still a hope, so I was wondering if you could add the Churchill and StuG? Please at least this, can you?! anyway great this could be the best solution for tank crew!! thanks

HELLO, these images show that PWCGTC if there is snow selects the winter skins for everyone, except the tanks that I select, I would like to understand what prevents me from putting the selected skins, since in PWCGTC they can be selected but it does not put them even if selected. and why doesn't he even wear winter skins??? Can you help me, is anyone using it? you have to stay there for a while, but sometimes you create really good matches, you save them and you can start a campaign !!!

Does anyone else have this issue in PWCG campaigns where your platoon of tanks lurch forward and pause every few yards? After a while they lag so far behind that they become useless to an assualt because they are out of range. Is  there some way to fix this?

appoint yourself a platoon commander and give the command to move behind you at high speed, forming a line

all!! we all have those problems, let's hope they fix it seriously because so far it's the most valid idea and it's a shame to leave it so unplayable seriously, it would also be nice that the enemies are not always in formations of 4, it would be nice to randomly 4, 6, 8 and even 10 tanks at a time, they are always 4 and there are too many guns and especially machine guns, let's hope for the best!

Its kind of comical and very frustrating when a machine gun opens up on your tank and the flash and shock make it so its very hard to aim and shoot back. There is no way a machine gun is going to do that to a medium tank much less a heavy one unless of course for the very rare bullets through an open visor and maybe the crew panic.

Most of the time the crew inside would just lob HE at you and laugh. This mechanic is just ridiculous.

Remember that this is an Alpha product.  Pat Wilson is deep into re-doing PWCGFC.  He has said in the past that he won't be working on PWCGTC.  However, he also inplied that about PWCGFC, but now that there is new content he is back on it.  That being said, adding the vehicles is doable if you have messed around in PWCG, but is not simple.  I just created a  _churchill iv.json which would add that tank to the mix.  I had to start with an exisiting tank .json and modify the info in the file and add in the Modifications (Which is missing from all the existing tank model files that's why you can't select them).  But that would only be the start.  Now I would have to create a Company that uses this tank for both Britain and Russian.  I would have to delve into history to find some actual units.  Then within those Company files I would have to add in dates of operation, locations, and skins (With dates for when those locations and skins were used).   Much of this same information would have to be added in for all the existing models and any models that have come out since the original Alpha product came out.

Back in this thread I posted the info to make the Pz. III show up in the Select Owned Vehicles.

The AI issues is probably related to TC and not PWCGTC.  In the data/(null)/luascripts/ai folder there are only ai files for aircraft.  So I don't know where or if the AI files for the vehicles exist.  So that's probably why they don't function well.

If you open a Company .json and go to the bottom you will not see any skins listed.  Open a Squadron .json from PWCGBoS or PWCGFC and you will see that the is a section on skins that list the skins that Squadron uses and when they are used. lf no skins are listed the Company will use the default "official" skin which is not a winter skin.  But TC (The Sim) will use winter skins. That's why you see everyone else in winter and your company in default.

I learned all this creating a 103rd Aero Squadron for PWCGFC and a 356FS 354 FG for PWCGBoS.    Not an easy task, but it is doable.  But if Pat ever updates PWCGTC you had better have backed-up your work as they will probably get overwritten.  Again this is an Alpha product and not a finished product.

Yes, I got it, but I don't understand what I have to do with _pziii-l.json and _pziii-m.json, as well as I don't understand what "REM" is meaning for.

Posted (edited)

Sorry, REM is old school FORTRAN programming on the main frame (c.1984).  The equivalent of today's //.  It designates a comment rather than a line of programming.

I could have been clearer back when I found the solution to this glitch.

In PWCGTC/TCData/Input/Vehicles it has this:

{
  "scriptDir": "vehicles\\",
  "modelDir": "vehicles\\_pziii-m\\",
  "vehicleType": "_pziii-m",
  "vehicleName": "Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.M",
  "displayName": "Pz.Kpfw.III",
  "countries": [
    "GERMANY"
  ],
  "startDate": "19410601",
  "endDate": "19440101",
  "rarityWeight": 60,
  "vehicleClass": "Tank"
}

Change to this:

{
  "scriptDir": "vehicles\\",
  "modelDir": "vehicles\\_pziii-m\\",
  "vehicleType": "_pziii-m",
  "vehicleName": "Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.M",
  "displayName": "Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.M",
  "countries": [
    "GERMANY"
  ],
  "startDate": "19410601",
  "endDate": "19440101",
  "rarityWeight": 60,
  "vehicleClass": "Tank"
}

Adding Ausf.M to the displayName.

This is sweet, thanks, though I notice Stug doesn't show up in vehicles. Is this possible to add?

I'm working on the StuG and Churchill.  But, it's a lot of work.  Slightest typo and it don't work.  You guys should thank Pat Wilson for PWCG.

We could totally use a PWCG update but unless someone with skills volunteers it probably will not happen. I spoke to Pete a while back and did thank him but he said the AI and path finding was a mess in careers so he basically gave up on updating it. For me your wingmen always stumble forward and stop every few feet and jerk so they lag behind the action quite often. They also have no logic so they drive right into rivers and drown. The battle lines generated also never make much sense with static MGs spread out erratically and in no real strategic location. It feels more like instant action than anything else.

Its sad that the developers never gave this module the love it needed.

Perhaps the term “artificial intelligence” is a bit too much?

I'm wondering that for those that have these various JSON Vehicle fixes working, if one of you could submit a PR to the GitHub repository for PWCGTC here: https://github.com/PWCGDeveloper/PWCGCampaignTC

Then Pat could likely rebuild and publish an updated version easily (or others could build from source if desired). Then all could benefit from these various fixes notated here. I'm super new to IL-2 GB and TC, so I've not delved into this yet, but will when I get a chance. Maybe (with some help) some of us could help Pat improve PWCGTC?

Friends. Any ideas if work continues on this project? I just downloaded it and tested it and it is very good but it is missing some corrections. I would like to see it finished since with the lack of a CAREER mode for TANK CREW this would be a great alternative to enjoy.

Thanks friend for responding first of all. A shame really. I would have loved to see it finished. Playing Alpha is the only thing I have left to enjoy some kind of career. I wish they would work on it again.
