dureyo Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Is there any way to turn down/simplify the impact AI bombers have on game performance? Playing BoM i encountered a flight of 9 pe-2s escorted by 6 i16s, my flight being 4 109s and the game was borderline unplayable, it drastically slowed to around what i suppose were 30% game speed with my fps being capped on 80+. CPU is R5 2600 and RX 6700xt on 16gb ram, frontline density was on medium, AI difficutly on high. In CloD i easily do 30+ AI Bomber formations and have 0 lag, so i wonder if my settings are wrong or if this is a game limitation. But then again 19 planes shouldn't make the game slow down so drastically. 1 2
Eisenfaustus Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 No - your settings aren’t wrong. That dilation you describe can only be countered by a) reducing the number of ai objects (low density for fewer ground units/low difficulty for fewer aircraft) b) get a faster cpu… biggest performance issue I’m having as well
IckyATLAS Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 You cannot change AI load or performance. 9 twin bombers and 10 fighters on a loaded big map like Kuban or Moscow means you have the CPU and GPU power available. Time dilation is a CPU issue as you can have decent frame rates but strong time dilation. If you reduce the visual quality this will help mainly your GPU. As GPU depends also on CPU the two are connected. This is why there is the need for an equilibrium. I would say that you have a better GPU than the CPU, or the CPU is weak compared to your GPU. Getting a better CPU with your existing GPU should improve a lot the overall performance.
Giggles Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 ive been doing moscow map and well its like this... I pick 4 friends to fly with me, the computer will give me 7 ai 202's and 7 ai f4's as cover support, and the enemy will get 4 pe2 and maybe 6 p40 and 6 mig 3. Id suggest you get a newer processor as the ram seems ok, the video card should be fine. But that level of processor is at best 4 core...
FodderMonkey Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 Reducing CPU load would be an excellent priority for the devs once BON releases, imho. It opens up all kinds of possibilities for the future of the platform by allowing more AI and more complex aircraft into the mix, as well as providing better performance across a wider range of machines (more machines = more paying customers). Think of it as investing for the future ? 2

Think of it as investing for the future ? Is it really a matter of reducing CPU load or more a matter of actually fully utilizing multi-core with the engine, so an efficiency issue within (?) -- I wonder. As to second part, well it is looking less and less likely to even make it for a plethora of reasons now - though everyone needs to be crossing their fingers especially now. Giggles Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 At base level, one needs to look at the problem from the code level.. look at what the "outdated" dover blitz can do with planes, ai, the hit calculator system, the damage model, etc. then compare the engine, the code, to what we have now with GB 1
