Dallas88B Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I recently purchased a VKB Gunfighter Mk.III Modern Combat Edition which uses VKB software VKBDevCfg-C.exe. I am trying to determine if there are advantages in using the software for IL2. At present I have the stick connected to IL2 configured using the IL2 key mapping. For years previously I used the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS directly, I never used the Thrustmaster Target software... it just seemed very complicated for little advantage. Am I making a mistake applying the same approach to VKB stick?

Other than that, if you want to customize how the analog hats respond, you'll need to use the configuration software. 1

After that you are good to go and do not need to run it. 1
Youtch Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I personnally enjoyed very much programming all the buttons and functions of the joystick through vkb software. It takes some time to get the logic behind the software and several youtube videos but then there is virtually nothing you cannot do with the joystick. I use joystick hat as mouse, i have 2 to 3 functions programmed to each bottons. It is so powerful that i practically don t need any button on the hotas for il2. Plus on the advantage side, it is not like target software, once programmed all is loaded inside the memory of the joystick and you don t need to run any software while playing with il2, hence no impact on performance. 1
