Hello Everyone!

Today’s Developer Diary has just one task. To show you the mighty Ju 88 C-6 in the engine and decimating targets with her awesome firepower. Don’t get caught in her gunsight because she can unleash a hellish barrage or bullets, cannon fire or bombs! A couple of these heavy hitters can wreck a convoy or an airfield in no time.

These images also include our New Sky which is nearing readiness for release soon. You’ll notice it looks not only more beautiful, but more realistic with no banding in low light conditions. The new sky when coupled with the new clouds and some new adjustments to the lighting, combines to make a beautiful scene!

Wow those sunrise and sunset pics look gorgeous, definitely gonna spend a lot of time taking screenshots come patch time

Sweet, thanks.

That is really cool! I've been really looking forward to this airplane - it should fly quite differently from a lot of fighters, but the handling, I suspect, will be reasonably pleasant.

Feel sorry for any head on attackers who attack one with the fake painted windows on the nose thinking it's a normal JU-88 ?

That modification for the single rear gun looks cool, didn't know that was a thing. I assume the removal of the blisters will bring a slight speed increase. And that damned cockpit machine gun is gone! Might just become my new favourite Axis ground attacker.

That C6 looks like a monster. With some proper fighter support I think she will make a very dangerous CAS strike aircraft and bomber. I am really glad to hear that we will be able set the time down to the minutes in an hour. That was a good DD today, thanks.

Ju88s are somewhat unique as larger bombers in being fully aerobatic aircraft...fly with a wingman and they will probably be a surprise to a lot of folks.

I think what really adds value to this aircraft is the ability to carry a useful external bomb load. Wasn't excited about just SC50 internal bombs, but these external bombs give it a whole new dimension.

Looks like we need the Pe-3 in this game

Oh la la, gorgeous.

I’m really eager to see a pseudo Bay of Biscay scenario with C-6s and Mosquitos battling it out over the water.

The C's nose seems to totally transform the whole aircraft, looks so much cooler...

There's a lot to work with.

Well not the 410 a few people have wanted & not the Mossie either; both in the far future I guess, BUT I sure wish we had this beast for play this weekend. Hopefully we'll get it next week( probably about the same time CloD makes their already flyable Ju-88C and all their other aircraft beta testable =hard choices will have to be made as well as interesting comparisons!)

The sky, just gorgeous.

That aircraft, truly brutal.

Thanks again for the DD, really appreciated.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

Honestly I slightly doubt that this in 1944 pretty much outdated machine could have a tactical benefit. Its not fast and not strongly armed by standard.
Do we already know anything about modifications? A night fighter with Lichtenstein radar or a heavy fighter with "schräge Musik" would easily compensate the lag of engine power and standard armament.

I am really psyched with this DD.  The bulletproof windscreen has been beautifully rendered.  The option for the single dorsal gun installation is also an unexpected and delightful surprise.  Having this cockpit element in place will remove many of the roadblocks to getting some of the other Ju-88 variants still missing in the sim.  The Ju88A-1 for early war scenarios used a similar (but MG15) installation.  The Ju88R-2 (BMW-powered, higher performance version of the Ju88C-6) also used the single-gun installation.  Most importantly, the Ju88S mid to late-war bomber variant had this installation and I think it would make a valuable addition to the BoN and BoBp theatres owing to its much better performance over the Ju88A-4.  I realize that it would still be a lot of extra work to bring these other variants in game but this will help a little for each of them.

Finally, my question to the devs is regarding the Ju88 and the photo-reconnaissance function shown in an earlier dev diary.  Once the PR functionality is implemented in-game, will we get an option for the Ju88D-1 PR loadout for the Ju88A-4?  Alternately, I would not say no to the Ju88T-1 (recon version of the Ju88S). This would also allow the addition of LW recon units to the career mode/PWCG along with a new "intercept recon plane" mission type.

Cheers,

I think the single MG was usually a MG131. So that would be a nice upgrade for rear defense

I think I have just had a small orgasm just by looking at the screenshots. Man that cockpit is also awesome!

I'm so excited about this monstrous beast and than even the addition of the sky and complete adjustments of time in QMB?....It's Night Raid Time?

Thanks a lot for this DD?

What rear defense?

That will only be if a human is manning the guns. Forget about the ai, as it is now.

Ju88c should be fun.  I can see a career path involving the Ju88c, Me110, and Me410.

Great pictures.

The Ju-88C6 is one of the airplanes I was really waiting for !?

The single rear machinegun is really nice.  Perhaps one day a JU-88R too ?  (a few were used late over the Bay because  Mossies outclassed the JU-88C6)

I am really looking forward to battle with the Mossie !!!!   And I am dreaming of a Beaufighter IC OR VIC  too ..?   You know me ???

I love Your work

Love it.  That solid nosed monster looks like a beauty.  Can't wait.

Lovely version and work of the 88.  The sky scapes are also lovely.

Looking forward to flying the new 88 and other heavy hitters coming down the pipe.  Have a great weekend everyone.

And HH:MM in the QMB is a nice little upgrade, thank you!

Yeah, it'd be great for Moscow - where it was used in many different roles, as well as for recon in Stalingrad and even Kuban. It'd be kind-of neat as a Soviet Mosquito/Bf-110/Ju-88C equivalent. I gather the differences are relatively small too... so here's hoping.

Maybe after "East 1945" there could be a Leningrad scenario as the final Eastern module (since it could span 1941-1944 - and thus fill in gaps in the planeset for multiple other modules)?

Note: This is pure speculation -we have no info or hints regarding the next module.

Yeah - that was a neat surprise. I really love the diversity of set-ups they are giving each plane. It makes me eager to pre-order whatever comes next. Albeit I think I'd find Korea a bit less interesting (if they do that), due to the lack of diversity through having very few Soviet or European aircraft.

Beautiful screenies with the new sky! That Ju88 will surely be a fun aircraft. Looking great! :good:

Still would like to see the Winter and Continuation Wars, along with that collection of aircraft that Finland used so well.

I imagine the BlitzPigs are going to get a lot of use out of the 88 C.

Yes... it means that one is losing only a third of the bombload rather than two thirds of the bombload in exchange for getting a strafing capability. It should do quite alright as an intruder into 1945.

It'll be interesting to see how much of an altitude advantage it needs to catch the bombers we have in game (especially as those bombers will be laden with bombs, and the Ju-88C could have used up much of its internal fuel already). Much as with rise of flight, there is a tendency to model higher performance aircraft for the players - which means that the slowest fighters have nothing slow enough for them to catch. It'd really help to have one or two very slow AI aircraft for each era to provide such targets (e.g. Wellington or Beaufighter). Of course, we do have the C-47 and the Lisunov Li-2 planned (as well as the U-2VS) so WWII is already a bit better off than WWI will eventually be.

Yeah I hear you about RoF.  It's almost as though we'd need a slow 2-seater pack (BE.2c, Farman F40, Albatros C.III, Aviatik C.I).  I'd pay top dollar for that :).

We also have the B-25 and the B-26 soon to arrive.  I can definitely see a viable MP scenario with AI and player bombers out looking for ships over the open water on Kuban or Normandy with the C6 and Mosquito acting in the fighter role.
