AI Tank Movement Question

Posted (edited)

Is it possible to have a tank column move down a road into a small village, then disperse and take up active defense of said village?

If so, how?

I'm working on a combined air and armor mission for the BlitzPigs, and am finding the static AI tanks to be quite limiting in making the mission fun.

Salute,

I had a similar issue with a 4 vehicle re-supply convoy arriving at a given point. The only way I found to do it was to have each vehicle with its own set of way points and lots of open editor, plot the waypoints, save, close editor, open game, load mission, view movement, close game, open editor, open mission, make change, save, close editor, open game........

In the end I was able to park the 4 vehicles in a small area under some trees close to buildings, but take a lot of work.

The other option would be to have them arrive at a given point close to where you want them to end up and then delete them, at the same time have the placed vehicles become enabled and appear.

Hope you sort it.

The only solution is as DD_Friar said to have each unit "programmed separately" and synchronize all manually.

I have done this also for planes, and to have them fly in a given formation can be done manually, but it needs some work.

The advantage is that you can do any geometry of formation and then split the group etc.

The problem at the moment is that we cannot dynamically or in-game severe the link that connects a vehicle to its leader. These are limitations that could be adressed. But when? surely not seen as a priority. But we heard that they are working on the AI and will do a major AI revamping. This could be one very useful thing.

I would have loved to have an MCU  that allows to:

1) Severe the link

2) Connect the link

3) Connect a Leader to another Leader. It would allow to group planes in larger formations. This cannot be done and generates an error message.

However when you have split the link you must now have Waypoints planned to be able to control the units you have separated.
