Spitfire IX problem

It looks as if the pilots head is lower than it should be, to the point that I can only see the top half of the gunsight reticle.

It was fine one mission and then the next mission it was randomly like this from the start. I've tried F10 to recenter, numpad 5, keybinds to raise the pilots head, all w/ no effect.

It only affects the spit IXe. All other planes (at least the ones I fly) including the spitfire Vb and XIV are fine.

I started to rethink and said maybe it's the gunsight reticle that needs to be adjusted not the pilots head, but I don't see any obvious way to do so. Also, I took screenshots of the view from the IXe and XIV and it does look like the pilot is shorter in the IX.

I saw an older thread in here but the suggestions were a little vague (things like "just delete the svc file"?).

Any suggestions?

It looks like you have saved a new pilot position, by mistake most likely.

There are at least 2 ways to fix this.

1) You can delete the "spitfiremkixe.svc" file from this directory "IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\LuaScripts\snapviews". When you restart the game the pilot's head should be in the default position.

2) If you are using head tracking, pause it or start the game without it. Then move your pilot's head to were you want it and press F10 to save. the default keys are listed below.

Pilot head: zoom in Numpad Add

Pilot head: zoom out Numpad Subtract

Save current corrections in head snap position F10

Pilot head snap position: center Numpad 5

Move pilot head forward Insert

Move pilot head backward Home

Move pilot head left Delete

Move pilot head right End

Move pilot head up Page Up

Move pilot head down Page Down

Good luck

Thanks so much!

In hindsight it's really obvious - I was using the keys to raise the pilots head but with head tracking still on so of course it didn't work.

Following option two w/ head tracking paused I was able to fix it and I'm now back to flying with my pilots head at a normal human level.

Thanks!

This should be pinned at the top of this folder, it comes up almost weekly:

If your default head position is moved, just follow these steps:

1) Deactivate any head tracking (trackIR, VR, etc)

2) when in cockpit, press NumPad Key 5 to center the view

3) press F10 to save the current view

This is on a plane by plane basis.

Another suggestion is to unbind the "save default view" from F10 to nothing, so you don't accidentally do this.

Addendum. In VR the headset doesn’t need to be disabled. Just move your head in the position you want and press F10.

This happened to me with my 190 A5. I didn't fly it for months due to this problem, and it wasn't until folks here helped me out that I finally was able to fly it again.
