P-38 is a hoot.

I've been doing a Battle of BP career.... starting with P-47's for a bit. I learned that Eight .50's is extremely potent if you set their convergence to, and use them in their effective range of 300 yards. Quick bursts would shred 190-A's.

 

I transferred to P-38's recently, and my jaw dropped when I noticed you can put a pair of 2,000lb bombs on them. Very little drawback to having them on. I did dial the delay in to 5s, just to be safe. You can still cruise at 300mph at full military power, and climbing at 4K ft/minute is easy. Sooo.... I'd been cruising in on the deck, pouring on the coals to climb to 5K of altitude right before getting to the target. Dive in, drop bombs, and just watch everything get leveled.
