The SC1000 configuration, uses the same center rack but there's an added overall weight greater than the rack when the other weapons are carried, and the post drop speeds are lower.  Question is did they add ballast to carry this weapon and where was it added?  Did the bomb make it nose or tail heavy requiring a rebalance?  Is it a CG issue that causes the increased post drop speed loss?

Testing wise, the G-8 config 47 with the SC1000 dropped is faster than the Config 44 with three racks, actually as fast in the cruise as a clean G-8 although it trims +7% compared to +1% to keep level, same half fuel loads, both rads open 9%.  Not a bad option for strike on a heavy industrial area, I see no disadvantage or notable speed loss as the data states.  Rhineland summer map cruise held at 300 meters.  For G-8 config the fastest strike config is 36, is faster than a clean G-8 by roughly 5 Mph once weapons off in sustained cruise, but basically it is a clean G-8 with the small wing racks.  All throttles were 80% max sustained cruise.

 

A-6 is a faster fighter, but not the G-3 strike variants, they are significantly slower, go with the F-8/G-8's for strike.
