Anyone Using the Steam VR Hardware?

If so, do you like it?

SteamVR is software which supports numerous HMDs from various manufacturers. You're going to have to be more specific as to which HMD you are talking about.

I would say be careful with the vive pro 2.  I got it in early October and was only able to play it for that month.  From November to now its been back and forth to the service center for repair.  Now its going back for a 3rd time direct to HTC.  From all the other issues people reported I would steer clear from this and go with the hp one.  The pro 2 is nice but for only a month worth of play time it sucks.

Are you asking about the valve index?

I think so. Whatever they're offering for $999.

Index is getting long in the tooth so to speak. Better headsets available now - for flight sims Reverb G2 is hard to beat.

Thanks. Not ready yet, but somewhere down the line.

I moved to Index from an OG HTC Vive. Index is great for plug and play simplicity.

Solid visual quality.

Consistently works.

Comfortable.

I'm new to flight sim, but got it for an improved racing sim experience over on iRacing.

For racing, it is more than enough. For flight, I find myself wishing I had a few more pixels sometimes for IDing.

Your VR experience will vary heavily by your hardware, so for reference.

I'm 3070ti, 10700k, 16gb ram.

Running on high at native resolution in the headset I'm maintain an almost entirely steady 90fps.

I can probably squeeze more performance out of my setup but have held off on optimizing till I have a better idea of what I want to focus working on.

Pugmo, thanks for the info.

I feel like I'm still so new to IL, and constantly refining my controls, I'm always fumbling around the keyboard and the throttle (which has a slew of switches, buttons, axis, and other little things.

Another thing I've noticed from reviews is that even the people who love VR, say they get hot and sweaty. I live in Florida. Even with the air on, it will get humid on the house. And my office, with the door closed to keep the cats out, and the CPU, GPU, and the big monitor throwing off heat, it's always a couple of degrees warmer in here.

But at some point I'll take the plunge.

Thanks again.

Index was good, currently a bit overpriced given that there are better things out there.

I moved on to the Vive Pro 2 mostly for the higher resolution. If it wasn't for the high resolution that makes the screen door effect disappear, i would have rolled back to the Index, which was more comfortable, had better audio, the cable didn't require a manual button to turn the device on, and has less bloatware on the software side.

Both have pretty bad god ray (?) effects on the lenses.

I love the Index, though at this point I would wait for a wireless, high end headset -- and a GPU that can handle the workload.

My GTX1080 is basically at the limit in IL-2 now, even with highly tweaked settings, the openFSR mod, and the motion-smoothing(forced 60fps*2 via throttling at 120hz).

I use SteamVR software for my HP Reverb G2 for all my VR software titles including GB series.
