Chris65 Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Sorry if this is discussed already but as the title says, if I do a search and it comes up with results and I click on 'page 2 etc' it always says I have to wait before doing another search, why is this? I am not doing a new search, I am going to the next page of my current search. In fact first I was trying to find if there are any aircraft silhouettes to practice target identification but it kept telling me to wait to progress through the search, so I tried doing a search on why I have to wait to go to the next page of a search...and I had to wait to go to the next page. Having to wait one minute to progress through a page is kind of annoying. I know it is probably because I am a newb, but still it isn't a new search. 1
Biggus Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 I've also noticed this. I assume there's a bug with the forum software. 1

Try doing a Google search using the "site" option, for example: site: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/ "aircraft identification" FYI, there are some aircraft ID links near the bottom of "Air Combat Guides" in the IL-2 Sturmovik Resources post. In particular, the is IL-2 Tools, which includes an aircraft identification test (see the "Identification" button at the top left of the IL-2 Tools page) and a couple of other similar links. I have never heard of the 'site' option, will have to try it. The resources post is what I was trying to search for, but now I know. Thanks once again.

FYI, the IL-2 Resources Post is pinned to the top of the Manuals, Tutorials, Guides and Tips main section so it's easy to find if you lose the link. Edited February 13, 2022 by JimTM

I had looked through that section before but never found aircraft silhouettes, thought maybe I had missed them, did another search again last night but still no joy, am I missing them? Chris Ok, this is rather annoying. Searched for RED STAR but it came up with parts thereof, so I tried "RED STAR" but get the message "you have to wait 46sec", ok wait 46 sec, enter "RED STAR" in search box..."YOU HAVE TO WAIT 56 sec". The search feature on this forum is beyond broken.?
No_85_Gramps Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Someone else, I forget who, recommended searching the forum using google. Just type in "https://forum.il2sturmovik.com" and the search words/topics. Works a lot better then the current search function.

My last post was just general information rather than another location for silhouettes. Look near the end of Air Combat Guides in the IL-2 Resources post. Links: IL-2 Tools (by Polendri) Includes an aircraft identification test Identification Chart - Silhouettes (by minivan) <--- The chart posted earlier in this thread 20 minutes ago, No_85_Gramps said: Someone else, I forget who, recommended searching the forum using google. Don't forget "site: " before the webpage link: site: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com "my search terms" <--- quotes not mandatory Edited February 13, 2022 by JimTM

I've never seen anything like their search function, and it makes searching the forum quickly almost impossible.
Chris65 Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Ok, I broke down and used the SITE search, kind of a pain but yes it does work. I was a moderator at THE BLITZ wargaming club for about 20 years and we went through a couple of servers/IP companies, never had a problem like this. But all in all it isn't a big deal, just 'grrrr'. 1
