Hit sounds, there or not?

I may not have the settings as they should be, or others may have noticed this as well. Is the game suffering from the same malady as COD did? The rounds hitting the A/C are silent, that is, no sound is produced from the interaction of the bullets slamming into the aluminum of the plane. I've heard others complain of 1 hit PK's, but I'm prone to believe that their plane has been hit before the PK, it's just they don't hear the sound of the rounds creeping towards their cockpit. I'm flying with one eye lately so I get shot down on a regular basis these days and as a consequence I'm quite experience in this situation. I don't see the guy coming up on my 6 most times, but I don't hear any damage being incurred by his ranging shots either, just a dead pilot or the engine bursts into flames. I'm blind, not deaf.

 So, a bad sound file somewhere, a wayward setting on my part, or just no hits being registered through the game?

Yes 100% agree.  It has been several years since Ive heard loud impact sounds.  It used to be fine. 

Wish I knew how to remedy it.
