josh455 Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) Hello everyone, So I'm quite new to IL2. Got it up and running with my Reverb G2. So when I'm in the cockpit and move my head around the cockpit also moves. When I'm sitting still it's ok. But when I just push a bit forward or back the cockpit also moves. I've read some tips on other discussions from people that have the same issue. So below things I tried already: - This one VR setting in the options menu (ticked off) - There is enough light in the room - Reset the boundary on the WMR setup - When I first put on the headset I look all around for calibration I installed OpenXR runtime. Also on steam like everyone I guess. Thanks in advance Edited February 11, 2022 by josh455
kissTheSky Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Try and delete/clear environment data in WMR. It should help.
TimSell75 Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Yes remeasuring the environment always fixes it for me. Also don´t use seated position, use defined space instead.
paul_leonard Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 You are not the first. Search for this thread Lost 6DoF with Reverb G2? Your problem is that your windows mixed reality is not centred itself probably because you went straight into SteamVR. Best practice is always to do the following: 1 - Start WMR and put on your headgear in the Cliff House and make sure you can move your head around independent of the house itself. Look left, then right then down as often prompted. Doesn't hurt to lean forward and back to check things. 2 - WindowsKey-Y out to Windows 2 -Then in Steam start Steam for Windows Mixed Reality VR (not SteamVR) 3 - Then start iL-2 in VR mode. Every time. You don't need to remeasure the environment every time. Just do the above. Trust me, it becomes a routine. 1 1
josh455 Posted February 12, 2022 Author Posted February 12, 2022 UPDATE: so I did above (from Paul_leonard), but it still is the same. so the weird thing is that when I open the canopy I can stick my head outside without moving the glass. But when it’s closed and put my head to the glass it moves the plane. Instead of my head going through.
Vortice Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 (edited) Your virtual head has a limited range of motion inside the virtual cockpit. When you reach the limit of that defined range of motion then your virtual head can move no further, so the only thing that can move, if you keep moving your real head, is the virtual cockpit itself. I found this a bit strange and disorienting at first, but I have learned to live with it and now I don't even notice it at all most of the time. Edited February 12, 2022 by Vortice

Change to custom and you can disable that head limitation if you wish. In multiplayer though that is a server side function.
Riderocket Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Under camera settings there is a "Limit VR View" option, turn that off. Then enable "Spectators" in difficulty settings. 1
josh455 Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 UPDATE: Yes the ''spectator''option was the issue. Thanks everyone for the help ? 1
Max_Eisert Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Enabling the 'spectator' under difficulty settings also solved the problem for me. I looked a long time to solve this one. Thx.
Youtch Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 So, i guess this trick does not work for MP on most servers, it is mostly for SP. Correct?
spreckair Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) Restarting this thread due to having the same issue, but with a twist. I play with the Reverb G2. When I play at night, it works perfectly. When I play during the day, the whole cockpit moves when my head moves. I can turn my head without issue, but if I move my head to the side, the whole cockpit moves to the side, keeping my head centered. The difference between night and day is the amount of light in the room, so I have tried to draw curtains to darken the room, but to no avail. Any thoughts on why I am having the issues only in the day? I should add that I read through all the forums that I could find and tried every suggestion, but no joy so far. UPDATE: Resetting WMR environment again to sitting/standing in place seems to have resolved this issue, although this is where it was set before resetting. Go figure. spreckair Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 That is what I did and it seemed to resolve the issue. I was just not sure which action did the resolving; maybe both.
