KPnutskgwanchos Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Q2 using good cable... Ok so not exactly a blistering system, I7 2600K (OC TO 4.2Ghz) and rtx2700s OC and 16gb ram but fps seems almost locked to 35fps whatever I try. By try I mean FSR/NIS (with and without it) or alternatively steam SS etc... Always the same 35 looking straight ahead rising to 70 If I look up?... Is that normal? A ceiling that I can't get thru?.... Can I use reprojection with a quest 2... Be darned if I can find the settings for it!
paul_leonard Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Yah, not exactly blistering but you gotta work with what you got. I have a friend with an older clunker and a 1050 card. He has a great time. The immersion either makes it for you, and you never go back, or simply doesn't cut it. Try forcing on motion reprojection in SteamVR. It might still report lower fps but may smooth things out. Can create some ghosting in some situations but may work for you. Also check out SYN_Vander benchmark thread. There is a spreadsheet in there and one of the tabs will show you what has the incrementally hardest hits on framerate. Very helpful with graphics settings as order counts. 1
TheSNAFU Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) Is it possible you have the q2 set at 72hz with motion smoothing on in steam or Oculus. That could limit fps to 70 max and half that when your pc can’t maintain 72. In Oculus it’s called ASW (Asynchronous Spacewarp). It can be set in the Oculus Debug Tool. In Steam vr it’s called motion smoothing and is in the Steamvr software on the general tab or video tab. Edited February 9, 2022 by TheSNAFU

Yes I'm at 72mhz on a Q2 (havnt found where/if you can change that) I tried turning off smoothing in steam yesterday but again no change. However I wasn't aware of ASW so I need to get into the debug tool I guess!.... Thanks again ?
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Your problem is primarily cpu related. Time for an upgrade. 1

Yes for sure .... problem is the motherboard is 2013 and the CPU is the best I can get to run on it .... so yes time for an upgrade when cost allows ...Im guessing motherboards are also silly money right now not to mention CPUs!! 1
