Adder*** Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) Look I don't have VR, I have my own reasons. But many flying AATC's new servers (they are now up to three beginner, intermediate and I'm not sure what to call the third server) and this is not a complaint per se. As I understand it's short comings for VR are its Resolution which is substandard to screen, as well as being without padlock and they already have a POOR view of other flyers, it suggested that something else needed to even the playing field citing's they want to have the same advantages is there a way to tweak the system to allow for this to happen? I can't say if they are losing their player base, but it sure seems like it's headed that way any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated Best Regards BlackAdder Edited February 6, 2022 by BlackAdder*** grammar
SharpeXB Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 This is a “great debate”? I’ve never seen this discussed. Padlock is a view system for players without head tracking and is probably disabled in most multiplayer I imagine since it’s rather a “cheat” locking your view on an enemy. Using padlock in VR would make people sick as any forced movement of your head in VR would do seems like a non-issue to me. 1 1
AEthelraedUnraed Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) Actually, one of the great things of VR is that I no longer need padlock. In 2D I did, just to keep the enemy in my limited field of view. Now, I just turn my head. Improves my situational awareness as well, since I know how my head is turned. And, as SharpeXB says, using a padlock view in VR would cause motion sickness. Overall, if anything, I'd say VR players have an advantage so if there's any "evening the playing field" to do, it's gotta be the 2D players that're buffed. BraveSirRobin Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Adding padlock for VR players seems like a good way to break someone's neck. 1 2
Irishratticus72 Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Haven't used padlock in over nine years, since I got TrackIR, now I'm using VR, so I really don't see myself using TrackIR, even though the resolution and framerate is superior, VR is just too bloody addictive.

I gave my VR the heave-ho and ran back to TrackIR when I got my 3, 65" monitors. Now I can keep an eye on the doggie. I don't hurt my neck any worse than it does already, and I get a life size view of instruments.
buz13buz13 Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) I have VR turned off. Padlock is intermittent....that is it works on the first enemy aircraft and then does not padlock any remaining enemy aircraft. I have Padlock checked and also Allow spectators checked which I understand is needed for padlock to work... So anyone know why padlock would work on target aircraft but not the next ones? On some missions if I let the computer set up a quick mission by clicking on the country symbol and flying the mission then I don't get padlock at all. I still get padlock on custom on the first enemy aircraft I padlock but it will not padlock after that. It would be easier to understand if it never padlocked but the intermittent nature of the padlock makes it hard to figure out. Edited March 11, 2022 by buz13buz13
