Patricks Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) Just a Public Service FYI, more pertaining to all that have Nvidia cards (also works for AMD) and just let them auto-update the drivers when available. The latest update (511.65) messed with (2D flatscreen) fonts and videos, fonts going from fuzzy to clear, video windows being 1/2 blacked out, other oddities. I remembered way-back-when I used a driver cleaner then would reinstall a (huge) fresh driver package. Much better solutions now, Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU v18.0.4.8) combined with NVCleanstall 1.12.0. DDU gets rid of everything, NVCleanstall will install only what you specify/need. There is a video here (slightly outdated) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU59jSdVQ4M. After the drivers are gone run NVCleanstall with only what you need (top 3 choices on the list are usually it). No more bloatware and NVcontainers communicating with NVidia constantly.. Reboot and done. All my issues are gone, and I know I have a much cleaner install.. Strange thing is all my GSync settings were saved, all I had to do was reenable the "Surround" for my triples... was pleasantly surprised as I fully expected to have to reset everything! Guest deleted@83466 Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 I check the Do Not automatically update device drivers box in Win 10/win 11 so this doesn’t happen. I’m not sure that Windows Home editions even allow you to stop it, but the Pro editions do. I think in a previous build I also had to inhibit automatic driver updates in the group policy (gpedit).

As someone with a lot of experience in enterprise level IT and related work, the rule is and has ever been, never to allow automatic updates.
