Open composite on steam IL-2 and Q2 HMD? is it posiible?

I do read alot about Open composite and the wonders it apparently do.

But can anyone confirm that Open composite works when you have the Steam version of the game?
i for sure cant make it work.

 

Can anyone confirm that there still is a gain on FPS using Open composite? (only on steam game and Q2 HMD)
compared to using openXR or Ocules runtime (or is it just old rumors from the beginning of the OpenXR software?)

im in the same world here. trying to work out how to basically bypass Steam VR even though I purchased all my IL2 content via Steam. Im on reverb G2 btw.
