Korean and Vietnam Wars in Flight Simulators

Hi Everyone. I want to ask yet another question. Why are there so few flight combat simulators about conflicts such as the Korean and Vietnam Wars?

First, there is a separate folder for other games. The moderators will move this thread there shortly, I'm sure.

 

Korea has been covered in a few sims, nearly as many as WW2. DCS has Korea era planes to fight with.

 

I am unsure of how many VN flight sims there are out there. IL-2 had a lot of planes from that era from modifiers. Overall, though, there wasn't a lot of fighter on fighter action during the war. It was a lot more to do with ground pounding and SAM battles.

 

BTW, there is a very complicated board wargame on the subject of the air war over Hanoi, titled Downtown. Not a simulation of individual planes, but of planning missions over North Vietnam.

It's getting hard to resist a jab for all the questions in a row but I'm also genuinely jealous about the excitement that you get at the beginning. If only I could go back to that point in time, and also back to the first proper MP kill.

Can you imagine how agitated the environmentalists will get over a flight sim where you can spray forests with Agent Orange.  Jason won't want to risk having Greta Thunberg chained to his fence so we will have to stick to bombing people instead.

Ah yes. The idea still lingers that "Americans" are a homogeneous group all heading in one direction like lemmings.

Wings over Vietnam and Flight of the Intruder are the only two Vietnam era flight sims I've ever played, Mig Alley,  and an addon for MS CFS the only two Korea era ones.
