Sorry I'm trying to find another topic through this way.

 

 

in the other thread it was partly about destroyed propellers from WW2 planes that still made it home.

There were some stories about it and I would like to look there again, but unfortunately I can't find it anymore.

 

 

One story:

 

"Um verfolgenden Jägern zu entwischen,drückte Ofw.Bach von der 1.(F)/123
seine Ju88A-6/u(nicht sicher mit der Version) so dicht auf das Mittelmeer herunter,daß durch Wasserberührung
Teile der Luftschraubenblätter wegflogen.Die Maschine landete am 25.12.1943
glatt auf ihrem Heimathafen Perugia(Italien)."

 

"To escape from pursuing fighters, Ofw.Bach of the 1.(F)/123
pushed his Ju88A-6/u(not sure about the version) so close to the Mediterranean Sea that parts of the propeller blades flew off due to water contact.
The machine landed on 25.12.1943 smoothly on its homeport Perth.
on its homeport Perugia(Italy)."

I have read a similar story in the book "Kampfflieger zwischen Eismeer und Sahara", dont know the english title.
