I hope you verified the seller because "1 left" to promote a frenzy and "reasonably priced" screams scam to me!

Yep, made sure Amazon backed them.  I rarely trust 3rd party sellers.   Anyway, got it and IL2 still isn't as smooth as I would prefer in VR,  Though these latest Nvidia drivers seem to have made things worse. ?  Frame rates dropped in half even on my previous lighter video settings.

Do not forget that CPU and RAM can also impact performance.

What VR headset are you using?

I have upgraded to the latest NVidia driver and did not notice any significant change in IL 2 performance. I run a 5800x and a MSI RTX 3090 formerly with a G2 but now using a Varjo Aero.

CPU is and I7 7700K OC to 5.0G

32G of Ram, & 24Gs of Vram on the 3090FE

and I am using the Vive Pro2.

Been adjusting settings in IL2 and found that the MSAAx8 is causing the FR hit.

Last test I did was "Balanced" every thing maxed out, except using FXAAx4.   That seemed to do the trick. Very smooth.   Next test will be in Ultra and same settings.

Max FPS is 45 in flight,  which is the same I got before with lower settings on my 1080ti.  Very smooth though.

MSAAx8 is guaranteed to kill anything fps wise. Glad you identified the issue.

Believe that the CPU is limiting your GPU performance so the RTX 3090 is somewhat wasted in your current build.

I went from a 10700k to a 5800x which has a substantial IPC gain over the intel CPU and picked up an extra 10 fps or so i.e. went from 70 fps to 80 fps in the Reverb G2 using the same GPU in both instances. Something to keep in mind for the future................................

If you do decide to upgrade to another Intel CPU in the future, avoid the 10th & 11th series, and go for Alder Lake.  Intel finally got back on track with Alder Lake.

Yes that 7700K will be starving that 3090 for sure, even at 5Ghz. That 3090 needs a more powerful CPU to up the fps.

Do you use any other programs while playing in VR? I do such as voice attack, WMR software and Steam VR, which would all have an impact on a CPU, especially a quad core CPU.

Just a PSA for Nvidia users from my own experience. When I installed the 511.65 driver set using GForce Experience (Express) installation I experienced all sorts of anomalies. Video screens half missing, blurry fonts in browsers, etc. I remembered way back when using a driver uninstaller to "clean" out the old drivers before installing new ones. Looked into it and now there is a similar yet better solution for the giant driver downloads and their associated bloatware.  You need two apps (both 100% FREE), "DDU v18.0.4.9" as the uninstaller/cleaner and "NVCleanstall 1.13.0" as a driver downloader/installer. Easy to use and no drama, fixed all my issues and got rid of all the bloat and telemetry Nvidia pumps into a driver package. Made the 511.65 drivers work great and just updated to 511.79 (using NVCleanstall) cleaned of all Nvidia crap.. Just something to try if you don't think your performance is where it should be, or just to run a cleaner system.

I will keep that in mind for my next build, thanks for the assist.  Much appreciated.   Note, after further testing.  I find that the Balanced is working the best, with everything maxed and FXAA.   I still see that the FPS is capped at 45 in game.  My VR settings state it's running 90hz, so I am wondering if it's adding both eyes, to get that 90.?

Ooh won the silicon lottery? What voltages and cooling solution do you use?

Please dont. Its taken eight years and three video cards to get this game to run with a minimum of stutter (still not completely stutter free).

Iirc all of these cards were above the minimum system requirements and had no trouble getting good frame rates, but good frame rates with stutter are pointless.

Currently i am running the game on an 17 10700kf 32 gigs of ram with an rtx 2070 super with 8 gigs of vram.

At 2560x1440 and 120 fps with vsync on, the stutter and occasional jerk are at just at an acceptable frequency.

If you persist in upping the graphics requirements, please take a look at optimizing the ground and object textures, as this seems to me to be where the problem lies.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that im running on a gsync compatible monitor with gsync enabled.

Specifically the first-time loading of assets seems to cause the most severe stutters (as is quite apparent by the "fly over a city and get stutters as higher LOD is loaded in, fly away and fly over it again and it's smooth" issue).

If roughly 80 percent of IL-2 BOX user are actually running Nvidia cards, this might be a true business case to implement DLSS or even better DLSS 2.0.

A win-win for the series... new technology and potentially more/new users can run VR or higher settings even without buying (overpriced) latest 3080 and higher cards.

I was sceptical about DLSS in combination with VR but after flying War Thunder in VR with several DLSS modes I am convinced. The performance boost and visual quality is amazing.

Probably a lot of us VR pilots are using fholgers mods to improve FPS or make a clearer picture with reshade color & sharpen.

I would really love to see DLSS implemented and maybe a better color/sharpening technique so that all is done by the game without modifying DLL files or additional files that may not be allowed in some MP scenarios.

yeah, I'm all for it, but i think i haven't seen any mention of it by Jason or the team members. would be nice to hear their opinion on the matter

I guess we need a class in reading compression LOL

11% of people that responded here said their video cards have more than 12 GB VRAM :scratch_one-s_head:

I am guessing Jason didn't ask if it was over clocked -  but I'm thinking those that responded 12 GB+ were thinking system RAM.

For whatever you developers need with this poll, I'd throw away that number.
