I am currently playing on an Asus GL503Vs notebook with:

- 32 GB RAM
- Geforce GTX 1070 8Gb.

Being on a notebook, I will not be able to change the video card.

Currently I play with the graphic options almost at the maximum and I have an excellent fluidity, especially since the last clouds.

If I had to have a performance degradation, not planning to change PC for 2 years. Financially it will be too heavy for me.

I will have to stop with BOX and come back to ROF to play properly.

I totally understand there is a GPU shortage and also not everyone has the budget or the desire to upgrade their GPUs or get new laptops.

However, you CAN lower some settings to manage performance it's not an "all settings on max or nothing" scenario. You can't be running a 6 year old GPU and be totally uncompromising.

I am in favor of moving the IL2 platform forward. In PC gaming you have to upgrade your rig every X years or you are stuck playing Age of Empires II. There is a lot of pressure on the devs to add new features and improvements. That has to come at a cost.

I was going to get a 3080 when they came out, but I refuse to pay AU$2600 for a video card, that's more than the entire rest of my computer with a Ryzen 3800X 32GB of DDR3600 and 2 1TB SSD's. Bloody ridiculous!

My old Hybrid Titan XP with 12gb of RAM, still maxing out my 144Hz monitor in Ultra settings...!!

RTX2060 with 6GB of ram.  It's in a gaming laptop, so not able to upgrade.  Only way I was able to even get a decent video card for a normal price, was to buy a laptop!

I find this question pertinent and easy to answer.    And like all politicians, I thank you for asking it. See under this post the nearly exact stats of my pc (I say nearly because my pc is an eternal work in progress) plus I am happy to learn the mini map should be at new be available.  Thanks to all how help to create this wonder of a game. :salute:

So if only 5% of participants have an RTX 3090 or 3090Ti how come 10% claim to have more than 12GB of Vram? ?

I am still running a gtx1080ti with reverb g2 and still get relatively smooth gameplay (55-65 fps). I am looking to upgrade gpu soon but maybe should wait for nvidia 40 series now.

But totally agree with moving the platform forward (onwards and upwards)

But, some may have already lowered their settings to play now.  A further reduction could mean the game becomes a stuttering DOS show for them.

AMD Radeon R7 350X 4Gb. Im happy if i have the 30fps, but the i have only 8Gb DDR3 and an i5 2500s, on a Foxconn 2 motherboard. So its a very old and weak machine. The R7 is the strongest point of my pc...  ?

6700XT (as my case) has 12gb of VRAM. 16gb of Vram in 6800 and 6900 too.

what would the engine upgrade bring? better graphics? if so, how much better they would be (shaders, textures, etc)? How much of min spec increase we should expect?

I think they'll hold that back until they know what the result will look like and when they'll be delivered :)

GTX1070 - 8088Mb VRAM - 8168Mb Shared Memory - Approx. Total Memory 16256Mb. Not sure if the rest of it is relevant but there it is. Excellent framerates, 100+, not using VR.

You would have to be compliant with GDPR but why not integrating a kind of automatic reporting from the il2 installer ?

GTX 770 - And - lol - definitely showing its age as far as BOX is concerned - current plan is a whole new machine with something from the 3080 family...

It's really nice to hear of work to the engine. I'll be going from my well-worn GTX1060 to an nVidia 40's series in November or so if the Gods are willing (supply and price, but will buy pre-built so should be okay). Go for it Team.

And nice to have a recon option, presumably in the WW2 set as well. That does scream for a Storch and FW-189, but I digress.

750Ti 2GB :cray: ooooof. I guess it was inevitable but the game visually keeps getting better.:good:

3080 with a reverb G2. I find its just on the limit for vr even with shadows, mirrors, reflections off and most stuff dialled down except distant buildings (I cant navigate these huge maps without being able to see towns from a distance to use as landmarks!)

Hope the "or will own in the next 30-60 days." part isn't skewing this poll to much..  I'm sure many of us would like to upgrade our GPU's,  but exactly when then might happen is still an unknown IMO.

Hey, I just filled out the survey with my RTX2070, but I noticed there are no options for Integrated Graphics.  I bring this up because I know multiple people who have played on Integrated graphics, one of them, who doesn't use the forum, still flies out with me quite frequently on his laptop with integrated graphics.  I don't see him upgrading for at least another year.  Just wanted to add that data point to your considerations.  He's surly not the only user of your awesome sim that runs IG.  Other than that, I'm looking forward the engine changes.

See you in the sky.  o7

Using a Nvidia GTX 950 series, and I see you haven't included it in your survey.  I guess that tells me all I need to know about my hopes of stuttering issues being resolved.  I don't fault you guys at all; you have no choice but to keep up with the state of technology and I'm clearly behind.  It's just frustrating because the game ran FLAWLESSLY two years ago when I bought it, but the past 3 months or so (ever since the cloud updates began) it has been completely unplayable.  Sucks for me.

1660 Ti GTX with 6 GB VRAM

If I wasn't mobile I can only dream what I could have right now.

2070 Super with 8 GB.  I can understand it's a tough choice between keeping older cards able to use the game and wanting the newest greatest graphics as well.

So if things run pretty well on 2-4GB of VRAM now if we bumped it up to say, to say 6GB VRAM minimum, would that kind of be what the Devs are looking at?  Higher than 6GB VRAM?

Posted

I'm rather surprised that the minimum spec is 2GB.  If they're having to force the engine to work with that small a footprint then it's probably time to increase it to get more features.  Even doubling it to 4GB VRAM wouldn't leave many out, and the sim must progress.

They aren't supported. Most 3D world games don't really support them. It's more luck that they can run many games. Yes, they can run some newer popular shooter games - at very very reduced settings - but they still aren't supported by most.

Posted

Excellent news, this sounds exciting. I'm impressed you've kept the specs as low as you have for this long, it's not unreasonable at all to raise them a little.

Guys, relax, your 1060s with 6 Gb won't suddenly become obsolete overnight.

Just like gtx780 did, eh? ?

Posted

I built a new X570/3900x system at the start of the pandemic in March 2020. I recycled the 2060/6GB video card from my last rig figuring the 30 series cards would be out in October. They were for a few secs! I can't bring myself to pay what they're generally going for now so I'm still running the old card. I could get in the EVGA cue but at this point I'm wondering if I would come to the top of that list before the 40 series cards come out? It's just nuts and has screwed up my plan of VR headset upgrade too. This is all gonna normalize soon..right? And we'll all just be able to buy cards like in the before times...right? I keep telling myself that anyway!

And most are running 3080’s with 8gb ram..

I guess the majority here don’t know the difference between ram and vram.

I'm on a 970 but I have a 3070 rig backordered

if it's not off back order in the next 30-60 days then I'll probably be forced to cancel it and look elsewhere anyways (maybe even build my own rig, as unpleasant as that is right now)

Game runs surprisingly well on my 970 even still, though I have to be careful and realistic with my settings choices (it's an old card and losing performance as it ages).

Posted

With my RTX 2070 Super 8GB VR Gaming is possible, but don't have absolutly no performence reserves.

So I don't like the idea to increase the minimum requirements.

Best Regards

Uh oh. With my 3 gb gtx 1050, this doesn't bode well for me, as I don't have the finances for a major upgrade at the moment (and I just got into this series!). Question for the developers: if the system reqs become appreciably higher, would it be possible for the less-fortunate to roll-back their il2-BoX versions to an earlier one to keep things playable? This would be good to know...I was going to take advantage of the lunar sale, but I admit this news has spooked me a bit.
