Hi all, just wondering if any IL2 fans here are from Macclesfield, Cheshire, UK ?

Be interested to see if there's any WW1 aviation fans from around these parts.

Lots of us UK boys around. If you want to fly with people then try J5 FlugPark server on a Thursday or Sunday night. The J5 Discord is a good place to find ppl to wing up

Hey, me too! Small world, isn't it?

I'm not from Macclesfield either, but I did once buy a trumpet there.

That's a very humanitarian concern on your part and it does you credit, however I think you can rest assured that hardly any of us suffer in that way, and if ever anyone did they'd have the smarts to do something about it pronto.

I'm from Preston in Lancashire, close.;)

My interest lies more with the WWII aircraft though.:drinks:

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

From Mersyside originally but live in Oswestry on ze Velsh border. The Field of Maccles aint that far away from these parts.

My dear Auntie Mar used to live in Nantwich which, as you are no doubt aware, is even closer.

Sadly however, I am another who doesn't reside in 'Da Field'.

:thank_you:

Well, on reflection, I should perhaps have asked "is anyone here not from Macclesfield ? " and got more replies. ?

Shoulder arms Dick_Scratcher and relax. Without your question I wouldn't have known that Macclesfield was once a big silk mill town and, incidentally, the only mill town in the UK not bombed during WWII ! Thus saving, I might add, all those luvverly old heritage buildings and architecture of significant cultural importance.

You talk about significant cultural importance in connection with Macclesfield - without mention of The Macc Lads.

Mills and Architecture indeed.

Come on - pffft pffft

Hmm. Quite. I should think Dick_Scratcher is above such childish things as vulgar songs about titties Zoo.

The Germans missed a trick there; they could have created a parachute shortage.

According to Google Maps, flying a FC Camel in calm conditions I'm only 1 hour and 17 minutes away.  A RoF Camel would take another 10 minutes.

Macclesfield museum contains a number of escape maps printed on locally spun silk.

I presume these were made to help people escape from Macclesfield.

Why would anyone want to leave Macclesfield Dick_Scratcher ? It's the safest place in the United Kingdom. Even Hitler said (loosely translated) "Don't bomb Macclesfield Hermann." "Look at them heritage buildings and countryside and stuff !" "It's even got a river with boats and shit !". Bomb Liverpool instead !". "Nothing good will ever come out of that dumpling !"
