I've been playing the game for a little over a year and have completed numerous careers. At some point since the last update, I tried to launch a new career and got a spinning cursor that never resolved into a launch. I had to resort to task manager to stop the game. I have tried to launch career mode many times since then to no avail. Everything else works fine as far as I can tell. I've been able to play using the quick mission generator, for example, without issue. I've looked all over settings and this forum to try to figure out what I'm doing wrong but I'm stumped.

Update: I had hoped that the recent update would somehow fix this issue, but alas ... to reiterate: pilot career mode will not initiate at all. Everything else appears to be working just fine. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Second update, posted in case anyone else finds this useful:

Using the method for repairing a broker career described here, I deleted all data referring to the most recent pilot and career from the cp database (I copied the original file to another folder first) in the career folder. I was careful to eliminate only data from the last date on which I had tried (and failed) to initiate a new career. Changes were made to the following tables only: Award, Career, Event, Pilot, Plane, and Squadron. I considered but decided not to edit the sqlite_sequence file, figuring that I could go back and do that later if the changes I was already making didn't work.

I started up the game, clicked on Pilot Career, and the career screen opened. The career I had deleted was gone, and just for good measure I deleted a few older careers from the screen; I also wanted to re-open the database just to see how these changes were reflected there. Interestingly, the numbers of pilots/careers/etc. on the sqlite_sequence file did not change after I made these changes. I have not yet tried to initiate a new career but will update here if I have any further difficulties.

Incidentally, before doing all of this I noticed that one of my earlier careers looked odd, and the reason was that I had tried to rewrite the pilot's name with an 'ü' instead of 'u' (see attached image). I edited this one just in case it was somehow the issue causing problems, but it wasn't. May I suggest that future updates address this issue? German names should be able to be written properly.

Hello, I have the same issues described by Kuroyagisan and you but the method doesn't works for me too. I tried to replace career database with a previous one I used with success several months ago but career still remain broken and I can't to proceed with it.

I asked for help on the forum but till now I haven't replies. I think I need a fresh install..... 🥲

Have you had any luck since this post? I am desperate to fix my game but I haven't been able to either.

Hi eggbred, on july I tried to manage the career and, maybe I solved the problem. Below the steps I done.

  • Career blocked on 12/08/1943.  If I tried to make "Proceed Next Day" the game was wrong and viewed the message:

Proceed next day failed.png

Analyzing the CP.DB file with “DB Browser for SQLite”, in the "Mission" table, the "endTime" of the last two missions of 12/08/43 were zero, while in previous missions date and time was shown. The data in the "State" column were also zero, while in the previous ones they reported the value 1.

THEREFORE:

  • I verified in the game the duration of each mission and through the online hourly calculator (https://www.lamiaguida.it/2020/07/25/calcolar-oraria/) I rewritten the “endTime” of each mission according to the format of the table. I saved the data and tried the game. Result: error "Proceed Next Day Failed".

  • I modified again the DB by inserting the value 1 to each mission in the column.

I saved the data and tried again. The career went correctly to the next day, 13/08/43!

  • I made only 1 test mission. Despite the problems of the headsets still to be fixed, I completed it and I will have to do the next. At the moment it seems that career is proceeding.

In the next days I will try to solve headsets problem via OpenXR, then if all go well, I will continuing the career.

Follow the actual state of CP.DB:

Hope this helps.

Let me know if you managed to solve.
