I have been critical in the past on 1CGS controller setup menu - whilst I can certainly get by with it I would love to see it more defined.

However that is not the purpose of this post, this one is for a big kudos to 1CGS for their controller setup menu. Yesterday I updated the firmware on my Virpil CM3 Throttle. Pretty big update as it had a lot of good changes but also a device ID change. I knew that could cause me problems so I prepare for it by backing my input folder just in case.

Turns out I did not need it - after having updated the throttle I launched IL-2 this morning, and it prompted me I had a new device and asked if I wanted to replace the previous device with it. I chose yes, and sure enough when I went in to fly it all my throttle settings were intact! Course mainly because most of the button numbers did not change - but the game handled this quite well. I was thinking I may just have to set the throttle assignments all back in, but nope this was very quick and very painless.

So kudos 1CGS for having that feature in the controller menu! Thank you!!

Can’t agree more. I was dreading setting up my (then) new VKB GFIII, but plugged it in and started IL-2, went through the same experience..

And I was replacing it with a Saitek X45! Had to change one button and one button assignment only!

That's good to hear dburne! I've been holding off on the new (beta?) Virpil software update and have been following your experience on the Virpil forum. So... is it safe? Did you have issues with DCS?

No not at all and it is quite nice! Great for setting up detent setting, I was able to use just one button for idle/off. Little complex to set those up but once there it is great. Prior to the update I exported my CM3 settings in DCS, and after the change and new device id I just imported them back in. I had some new button numbers namely for the new detent settings and it was easy enough to re-assign after imported the settings.

Note my talking of the detent settings were regarding the Hornet in DCS.
