FTC_Riksen Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) Hello devs, You guys are currently working on implementing the plane codes for all aircraft as we currently have for the P-51 but IMHO that is only half of the needed work. We should, if possible, also have the ability to introduce serial numbers to the aircraft (see below). That would be the ultimate immersion system for online and single player campaigns such as the built-in career mode and Patrick Wilson. This would be an incredible addition, especially for the latter, as it would allow the creation of less skins and still simulate/track different aircraft during the campaign. Would that be possible? Thank you and have a great 2022! Edited January 25, 2022 by FTC_Riksen 2 6
Mtnbiker1998 Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Definitely! while we could certainly survive with just the tactical codes, these would absolutely be a nice touch on top. As someone who knows nothing about the way the sim handles this stuff, it seems like it would be pretty easy to add alongside the codes we already have
GSHWK_Houndstone_Hawk Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 A nice touch but when, for years now, you have to try & play a completely immersive-breaking career by flying alongside a squadron of aircraft that brandish absolutely no squadron codes or identification what so ever, I think the priority for the above is way WAY down the list as the serial numbers would be the 'last' thing on anyone's mind. I'd just be happy to be able to identify whether or not that plane is part of my squadron or not ? 1
Eisenfaustus Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 I like the idea - especially in combination it would be cool. As in you have to apply some skin/code/fieldmod to a certain S/N and whenever you wanna change something that plane is out for the day and only available the next again. Imagine you are squadron commander of a German 109 unit and have limited gunpods/MW 50 Systems/bombracks and MK 108 available. So you build your planeset to be able to fulfill any mission type but sometimes are forced to fly missions with mixed suboptimal planes due to casualties/shortages… Would make the whole squadron leader business much more engaging. 1

Right now, the "official" skins are just a who's who of WW2 pilot skins.
FTC_Woop Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Yes Risken, this should definitely be on their list! Serial numbers are just as important as board numbers. This would allow groups like ours to automate serial numbers for each airframe available to a squadron! 1
Cybermat47 Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 On the topic of serial numbers; if you're ever bored, just look up a serial number. You might find an interesting part of aviation history that you didn't know about before. 2

Maybe you are forgetting that the Squadron tactical codes are being implemented for all aircraft according to the Devs. I believe the P-51 as well as the Typhoon already have those but there is no news about introducing the serial codes for any aircraft unless I'm missing something which IMHO is just as important for career purposes both in the built-in game mode and PWCG.
GSHWK_Houndstone_Hawk Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 There are no tactical codes implemented for AI P-51B and/or Typhoon which is the whole point that most game modes including career are completely unplayable. Let's get historical & realistic correctness sorted with tactical codes 1st shall we.
