Cmd-Stone Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) Virtual Co-Pilot for Checklists is a VoiceAttack profile that will call out YOUR OWN checklist items for any IL-2 aircraft. Simply create a text file for a particular checklist (Startup, Taxi, Takeoff, etc.) containing a list of checklist items, point the profile's voice command (Open Startup Checklist, etc.) to one of the text files, and the Virtual Co-Pilot will audibly walk you through the checklist items when commanded. NOTE: This utility was originally created for flight simulators that require you to manually manage the cockpit controls more so than in IL-2, but I decided to provide it to this community in case someone finds it useful. There are two profiles included. One (Checklist Template.vap) will call out your first checklist item and wait for you to say “Check” before continuing to the next. New in version 2.8, (1) you can say "Repeat" and the VCP will repeat the last checklist item. And (2) if you do not respond within 60 seconds the VCP will ask if you want to exit the checklist. The second (Continuous Checklist Template.vap) will call out all checklist items in sequence with a 3 second pause between each. The code can easily be modified to change the pause time. Additionally, the voice can be easily changed as well. Setup is simple, and instructions are provided in a PDF file. A short video showing setup and use can be seen here: https://youtu.be/_9i0EnDm4HA **REQUIREMENTS** (1) You must have a licensed version of VoiceAttack (2) You must have a text-to-speech voice installed on your PC Version v2.9 corrects a problem with the "Repeat" function. Mtnbiker1998 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 I never cease to be amazed by how powerful a tool Voiceattack is. I can see why this might not be super useful for IL-2 per se, but a really awesome utility nonetheless! great work my dude! ?
Cmd-Stone Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 Thanks. In IL-2 I typically only use it during approach and landings to remind me of descent and approach speeds, etc. I find it helpful when switching between various planes. Sometimes its difficult to remember some things.

Hmmm if you can use it for approach speeds, could something like this be used for listing aircraft limitations then? i.e. say "P-51 Limits" and it would list off "15 minutes combat @ 61 3000, max coolant temp 120, etc etc etc" that could be VERY useful
Cmd-Stone Posted January 26, 2022 Author Posted January 26, 2022 @Mtnbiker1998 - Absolutely. The Virtual Co-Pilot VoiceAttack profile has five default commands that are specific to "checklists". However, the basic operation is that when a commands is spoken (e.g. Open Startup Checklist), the lines from the specified text file are read aloud one at a time. So, you can change the spoken command to anything you want (e.g. P fifty one limits), or duplicate an existing command and change that one. Whatever the spoken command is, the command process will read off anything you've entered into the text file associated with the command. So it is definitely not exclusively for checklists. You could say "Briefing" have it read to you the mission briefing (in case you forgot), or you could have it read you a short story or tell you a joke (in case you get bored) . On a side note, because you mentioned the power of VoiceAttack, I always use VR when flying, and have found another VoiceAttack command very useful. The spoken command is "What time is it", and the command reads back the current time. This command is created by selecting Other > Sounds > Say Something with Text-To-Speech. When the dialog appears you simply type in {time}. This is a command to read back the time. This dialog is also where you can also change the voice, volume, and other voice parameters for a spoke response. using this particular command, I don't have to lift the VR headset to know what time it is. Cheers. 1
56RAF_Roblex Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 Just a thought but I would find it useful if there was 'repeat' option. What I mean is sometimes I need the information repeated but my only option is to say 'check' and move on to the next bit of information. It would be nice if either I could say 'Repeat' or even if after a set amount of time without hearing 'check' it repeats automatically.
Cmd-Stone Posted February 22, 2022 Author Posted February 22, 2022 @ 56RAF_Roblex: I have added this feature to the latest version (v2.8) now available. Dynamic Virtual Co-Pilot v2.8.zip
