Cmd-Stone Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 (edited) You’ve proven yourself as a good Aviator. You know how to fly the planes in your hangar. But are you a capable Navigator? In this five-mission campaign you are the pilot chosen to courier important documents from the Brussels airfield to headquarters in Eindhoven. You must remain in the cockpit during the flight, and you can only use ground references, dead reckoning, or a combination of both to make it to your destination - the map is available with waypoint headings and distances, but object markers and navigation markers must be turned off. This campaign is meant to be a diversion from normal battle operations, allowing you to practice real-world navigation techniques. Review the included "README FIRST.pdf" file to learn about the campaign, installation, flight restrictions, using ground references, and how to use dead reckoning. Although these missions are meant for a single pilot, the missions in this campaign are released as multi-player files in order to provide you with various planes to choose from. See "Installation and Execution" for details. The installation file is too large to provide on this site (9.72MB), so you will need to download it from my Google Drive using the URL below. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OBl2PDJ90hnn7fhVz-gBnxDBqRAW8zdC/view?usp=sharing Feedback is appreciated. If it appears popular I can add more missions with different routes, obstacles, etc. Edited January 23, 2022 by Cmd-Stone 3 3 2
JimTM Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Nice! This should be very helpful to inexperienced pilots Cmd-Stone. Here are a few early ideas for you to consider: - For clarity, it may be good to include a note right after the first paragraph. E.g.: 'The campaign is actually a series of multiplayer missions that you fly alone. This allows you to select any plane, unlike a standard campaign. See "Installation and Execution" for details' - On pg. 2, paragraph 4, you mention the mission editor. It may be helpful to include some basic instructions for those not familiar with the editor. E.g.: 'Before starting this mission, use the Mission Editor to open the file "Route Planning Map.Mission". The editor is program STEditor.exe, in your game directory under folder \bin\editor.' ... 'From here you can use the Measure Mode tool to plot and plan your route.' /// Add content from the measure mode icon on pg. 210 of the editor manual /// - You can replace Installation and Execution step 4 with 'Clear the Available from internet checkbox", which will prevent anyone else from seeing your mission and joining it.'
Cmd-Stone Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 Good suggestions JimTM! Thanks for providing this. I will make these changes. ?
