ITAF_Airone1989 Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Hi to everybody I was looking for some info about 2vs2 dogfight and I found nothing. I have plenty info about 2vs1 tactics, but seems that once you add a plane is just: go and do whatever you want. Of course I guess it's not like that, so I would like to ask if somebody has some info about 2vs2 tactics

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Are you flying with a live wingman or AI? Online we generally try to isolate the higher guy in a 2v1 while keeping SA on his partner. We also switch if the high guy goes low and use the same tactic. Keep pushing them down and treat them as 2v1’s until you eliminate one. Rinse and repeat on the remaining pilot. We use a basic in and out strategy. Wingman is in a guard position for the enemy partner but prepared to go guns on the primary if lead disengages and he has position. Wing gives updates on position and energy states. He can call the switch to primary on the enemy partner if the energy states demand it or the enemy partner tries to get in between us for a shot. In that case he’ll call the out, assumes the primary position and primary climbs into the guard position. Basic in and out teamwork. Also, occasionally the low guy has the higher energy state or is an obviously better pilot. He sometimes gets the primary attention rather than the guy with altitude if the height isn’t significantly different. 1
