Just a stupid question (again): what are the 2 buckets for at the front of this new gun-truck? It has no windows to clean, sorry George Formby ..

Built-in career mode for FC, realistic nav lights and upgraded fuel systems and visual damage really captured my attention! Can’t wait to see where we all are at the end of 2022 with all these goodies - and more!

When it comes to sound from takeoff/taxiing the one I think is most lacking is for the Marston matting, I imagine that must make a racket when aircraft/vehicles are rolling across them.

As a Combat Engineer back in the day (late '70s - late '80's) we actually trained with and installed Marston matting a few times. I don't know if the US still uses it though. But I can confirm it is noisy, creaking, and grindy sounding especially when vehicles of any sort roll over it, but also just walking on it could be noisy depending on how well the ground you placed it on was prepared. And it is a real PIA to work with, especially when it was damaged and you had to replace sections - once it was laid down you really did not want to mess with it again!

Next collector vehicle? Lot of detail gone into it, including buckets ?

Where's the third bucket stowed?

Edit: NVM figured it out myself. Two buckets per side, one inside the other. And checking, there's a 4th jacking point at the back of the vehicle.

Plus eleventybillion.  Totally with you here. The only performance area that is odd on the Mustangs is the discrepancy in the supercharger gear change between the B and D even though they share the same -7 engine.

whats wrong with -7 sup, they behave same on both 51... only sup problem i remenber is -3 auto sup switches to early, i just keep sup 1 on it manualy up to 7-8km and that solves the problem.

1. asphalt

2. ?

3. ?

4. Sand

5. Concrete

6. Old Concrete?

7. ?

For those wondering:

1 Asphalt (on existing airfields, not so much on ALG)

2 Prefabricated Hessian (PBS). Asphalt-impregnated jute/burlap, set in adjacent lengths with some overlap.

3 Square- Mesh Track (SMT). Heavy wire joined in three inch squares. set in adjacent lengths connected together

4 Bare ground (OK in summer, but make take-offs very visible) . Mainly used by the german for their field strips all across the Normandy battlefield

5 I would say British concrete

6 And there German concrete. The problem I would see is that it is much too weathered; this the way it looks like in 2022, not in 1944 (believe me, I would know, In France there is no shortage of old german airbases...). This is a more general issue concerning all concrete made buildings: during the war, they harbored relatively clean surfaces, being brand new!

7 There I am a a loss: I know of no configuration with a 45° mesh between bars like this one, unless it is an approximation of Sommerfeld tracking but then the mesh should be hexagonal.

Funily enough, there was no show of PSP/Marston mat runway?

Thanks to Missionbug, Rjel and Ilmavoimat, as I suspected a good idea, that didn't always work.

In my time in the forces I was amazed the number of aircrew who couldn't tell one aircraft from the other. Very much get up close and see if it's got the right markings. As a plane spotter I'd catch them out, especially at a distance.

However, using DCS just try and spot the markings on a tank when you are on a strafe, hence the bino's they were using in Kosovo, (Check twice to avoid disappointment!)

Thanks to all

Great improvements it seems like but I would like to voice one concern. I noticed that I basically have stopped playing lately IL2, and so has my group of friends. The reason being that the world we fly in just feels a bit too sterile and limited. With every new dev diary I'm looking for something to draw me back but there really isn't anything. I'm thinking mostly along the lines of more things going on around you like more varied and larger bomber formations, and just more liveliness in general. I would wish the devs would focus a bit less on fixing tiny technical minutia that we would never notice anyway and more on giving us the goodies we need to really immerse ourselves in WW2 air war atmosphere.

On that note: I am really looking forward to the new Griffon campaign!

Cheers,

B

Yup. Tell that to the C-54 crew carrying the dive flap kits for the P-38s when they were shot down by the RAF over the Atlantic. How many more bomber crews were lost due to that little mistake? All those trigger happy Americans, dragged into WWII. They sure were the problem.

Perhaps had you joined in a little earlier our chaps would have had more time to hone their recognition skills!?

As a Steam slave, just hope that all theses great features will not postpone final BoN after next January, as they only offer final product...☹️

Very nice additions to aid authenticity but when will we get the simple things like British and American flags for the flag pole?

Any road map for the issues with Tank Crew being addressed?

Like the flashing HUD which only started happening a couple of versions ago;

The ammo counter when in Commander view does not work;

The locking gun barrel;

It is things like these that break the realism that in other places IL2 does so well.

Yea, that sounds pretty much like what I'd expect, I've walked across it unsecured on a museum display and it rattled plenty from just the weight of a guy.

Link your account and you can buy direct from the website and still play via your steam install using the released BoN stuff.

Would you prefer the V-1 or Rata with skis? These are the choices I have to constantly make. Sucks. I only have one guy who can design such things. These kinds of features require us building the physics for it when we are focused on that module. I wasn’t in charge then. But I hope someday we can have skis modeled.

I dunno maybe because we already have PSP. The featured ones in the DD are new runway surfaces.

Are the Gotha, HP400 and Sopwith Triplane being dev'd by Ugra, or by 1CGS team?

Noticed in Jason's last briefing post that attribution to Ugra was  missing for these 3 planes.

Both please.?      I wasn't complaining or moaning, just asking and begging. BOS being the original all snow ❄️ map was the reason for the comment. Please, by all means, carry on Sir. S!

All WWI planes are being done by Ugra. Nothing has changed.

And floaters while we're daydreaming. A PBY or Kingfisher would be really awesome when we get to the Pacific.

Great news about the props. Two of the bigger issues in the sim regarding prop pitch, which will hopefully be addressed:

1. Prop abuse, running fine pitch and lowering pitch back and forth with impunity at full boost like you can do with certain aircraft - which will damage (ruin) the engine if done in real life. Hopefully this abuse will now be rewarded as it would be historically with a blown engine.

2. Prop pitch changes in FW190D-9 - it takes more than 8 seconds what should take about 2-2.5 seconds to automatically adjust pitch in MBG engine control. Similar situation seems to take place with Antons as well controlled by KG. It's taking much longer than it did in the sim as in real life to get the prop pitch adjusted.

Also why the D-9 accelerates like a school bus full of fat kids in this sim.

Just FYI, the V1650-3 was rated to operate perfectly fine at 70" and 2800 RPM and there was no risk of damage to the engine to modulate between that and 3000 RPM which is where your imaginary "abuse" happens.

I'm stoked for the new runways, nice to see the attention to detail.

It's a small but remarkable immersion factor.

Have a nice day.

Ah, how many I ended up crashing....

Hello Jason!

I suspected that much...I seem to remember having already seen PSP in the game...I still would be interested by knowing what is represented in number 7...and if it would be possible to unweather a bit german concrete?

That makes me curious how high they've actually modelled the atmosphere...  I guess we'll have to wait for them to introduce the V2 rockets at some point.
