Jason_Williams Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Quote 304 Attention Pilots! Our first Developer Diary of 2022 is here and it includes our first of two heavy bombers that are coming to FC2 – the mighty Gotha G.V. is up and flying! She’s a big bird that terrorized its enemies and foretold the future of heavy bombing in later conflicts. She’s a pusher design that is not so easy to fly, but in the right hands is an effective bomber. Load her up with your friends and multiplayer sorties become a whole new experience! We think you’ll like her and she’s coming soon to Flying Circus – Vol. II. The Handley-Page O/400 is also being worked on along with the Sopwith Triplane. Full text and visuals HERE. Jason 20 3 4
Jade_Monkey Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Fantastic update, those runways are looking great!
Ribbon Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Our first Developer Diary of 2022 is here and it includes our first of two heavy bombers that are coming .... I admit you got me there for a moment ? 1 5
=gRiJ=Roman- Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 (edited) I like the variety of runways. It becomes more personalized. Not all airfields looking alike, despite the runway configuration. Great idea. One more step to make the airports more feeling of being alive. Maybe adding some more moving object without to much CPU impact. Everything from asphalt to steel to wood chips mixed together with tar were utilized to build runways and taxiways. There are 7 pictures. Can you please list the runway surfaces? 1. asphalt 2. ? 3. ? 4. Sand 5. Concrete 6. Old Concrete? 7. ? Edited January 21, 2022 by =gRiJ=Roman- 1
unlikely_spider Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Thanks for the scripted campaign news. This is what gets me to buy modules. 2
Asgar Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Looking good! Can't wait to see drop tanks and more tactical codes/ DVD
Motherbrain Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Wow, the Gotha is coming sooner then I thought. Very nice indeed. ?
[F.Circus]Gorn_Captain Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 The Gotha is looking absolutely gorgeous, can't wait to organise some proper big flyouts with it.
Falcon41 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 WOW! Your team is fantastic. I've been playing IL-2 since it was introduced and it just improves with every update. My hats off to the team and all the players for the contributions all have made. Falcon4`
-332FG-Zephyr096 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 I didn't know I was excited to see more runway surfaces until I saw the pictures lol Looking good! 1
Furni Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Great DD, have to say I’m getting tempted to buy FC2 the Gotha looks terrific. Runways look amazing too 1
Rjel Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Impressive list of coming features and equipment. Multiple styles of runways will be welcome too. Wood chips and tar? I imagine that would be a nightmare to maintain in hot summer weather.
=621=Samikatz Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Love the Gotha, its flight model has so much character and demands so much respect, but once you can fly it the performance is very comfy Asking sim-friends used to cowardly aircraft with fly-by-wire to do a simple take off and landing circuit in it is extremely funny, too 1 2 1
Mistralfred901 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 I can't wait to see screenshots of the Normandy map textures. The runways textures are beautiful! 1

=EXPEND=CG_Justin Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Great update! The new runways look amazing!
ColoniaLibre Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 A very interesting update of the developer diary! ? The new runway surfaces for the airfields are a really good improvement. ? The previous surfaces in the Rhineland map do not really fit to central Europe. It would be great if the airfields in the Rhineland map could also be equipped with the new surfaces. And a short-cut grass variation would complete the airfield runway and taxiway surface palette. 1 2
86th_Buzzi Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Nice DD. The runway improvements look great. Any chance the different surfaces will have an effect on ground handling?
S10JlAbraxis Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Love the runway surfaces. Seems like the Normandy map will be a nice upgrade over the Rhineland map (texture upgrade, more objects, farms etc.) will be interesting to see if these enhancments eventually make it into the Rhineland map. I suppose it comes down to time and resource availability. 1
Denum Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Can we get a little more info on the prop modelling stuff? Just curious. Very excited ? 2
Jaws2002 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Lovely update. i loved the Gotha in ROF. Flying the slow Gotha among clouds, was like driving a submarine among icebergs. It's flight model was interesting as well. Many players online had problems landing. I predict that will happen again. I'll give you a hint in advance... You don't land the Gotha. You fly it down. 2

"The new Fuel Systems modeling is also finally coming back to beta along with drop tanks for several 109s as a start. We’re also taking a look at some other FM related issues like propeller modeling where some old issues exist." AND a picture of the P-47? I'm definitely reading into this and conspiracy-theory-ing, but maybe they're updating the P-47 FM to reflect the paddle-blade prop a bit better? I would certainly be very excited if this were the case. 2

Enceladus828 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Glad to see that Drop Tanks are back in Beta ? I can understand why you’re doing it with only a few Bf-109s so that if any bugs are present that doesn’t affect every plane. But one question I have is were the fuel systems on the Fw-190s, P-51s, P-47s, etc. so radically different that each type plane will have Drop Tanks added to them in stages or will Drop Tanks be added to the rest of the planes already in the game quite quickly? Thank you ?

Blitzen Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 For devotees of Flying Circus can you give us a prediction of when we'll see career modes all BoX? We've been waiting a long time... 2
Avimimus Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 It sounds like the Gotha's flight model won't be better than in Rise of Flight Two pieces of advice: 1) Get very familiar with the idea of adverse yaw from aileron deflection 2) Get used to the idea that you don't have enough thrust to allow full deflection of more than one control surface (i.e. full rudder and aileron will combined to act as a sufficiently powerful drag break that you will eventually fall out of the air). So keep deflections moderate and premeditated. 2 1
Ala13_UnopaUno_VR Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 I like varieties of runways, will it be possible to see runways with uneven terrain, or will they always be flat and straight?
FlyingNutcase Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Really nice runway textures - the images portray quite a lot of "character". + the rest. Looking good for '22.
BlitzPig_EL Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Propeller work should be good for several aircraft. Paddle blade P47, the helicopter variant of the Bf109, and the grossly underperforming Tempest that should be a MONSTER at low levels, but is no where near as good as the Mustang down low. 2 2
BladeMeister Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 (edited) A good DD. Runway surfaces look good and the Gotha, Arh ARH Arh! Hopefully they will look at the Prop blur as well as any physics. Even if one lowers the Prop blur to a negative number(-.1) in the startup.ini the Prop blur looks bad with the sun reflecting from it. It is minor yes, but it looks bad in videos and pics. Juri_JS Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Quote We continue to research how to improve our sky... Jason, would it be possible to stop the AI from seeing through clouds? Now we have these wonderful new clouds but we can't hide in them. 1 4
Spaz-505 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Thanks Jason, and to the entire team... very exciting Development Diary! I for one have been waiting to see what looms behind the door Speaking of flight model (FM), has anyone noticed a change in the P-51D? It seems that something has significantly affected the FM with the latest update in a negative way. I find it much more unstable and very difficult to control than previously... curious if others have experienced the same.
354thFG_Panda_ Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Great DD! Really liking those new runway textures, really add to the variety. Also great to hear more research into the look of the sky. The cloud update was fantastic. In the previous update the Malcolm and Dora cockpit limits were adjusted, will we see an improvement for the spitfire XIV and IX head limits as well? (they share the same limits as the VB currently) 1
