P-51B S/N 43-24877 "Chinese Laundry" of the 325th FG"checkertail clan". Italy 1944.

I will still work on this for some time, but I'm impatient so here it is.

This aircraft was earlier flown by six-victory ace and Squadron Commander Roy Burton Hogg, as "Penrod". 

It was one of the last P-51B to join the Checkertails, since they were already receiving P-51D's. 

 Lieutenant Harold Kick chose this plane to fly, instead of the 51D. He said, "it was good enough for our former squadron commander, it's good enough for me.

This was one of the last P-51B's still in service, in the 15th Air Force. Everyone swapped their P-51B's for D's. Lieutenant Harold Kick decided to keep it. That's where the "It's a dog" name came from. Don't know the meaning of the nose art on the other side. 

Harold finished the war in this aircraft.

What do you mean?

 

Now that you mentioned it, I noticed the bare metal is quite a bit more reflective than before the patch, but I didn't change anything.
