Clouds in Multiplayer Question.

Was having a discussion with one of the BlitzPigs who is coming back to sim flying after many years off, flying real planes.  He remembers back in original IL2 that some people in multiplayer would turn off clouds completely, to gain an advantage, and wondered if that was possible in Great Battles.  I honestly don't know, as we all fly with everything cranked way up, because it's so beautiful.

 

So, can people turn off clouds completely like tankers do with grass?

also are moving clouds position same for all players in MP ?

Cloud sync in IL2 is one of the win win win with this sim… unless anything has changed… they should be same for all players

I know on the BlitzPigs server we all see the clouds in the same places as they slowly move across the map.

Server sets the environment.  Client cannot.  The only way to have no clouds is for the Mission Builder to choose 00_clear_00 in the 'Atmosphere options' in the ME.

I never understood the desire to game the game for an advantage. Online or off. To me, it would seem unsatisfying whatever the outcome.

Agreed unless you are 16 years old and live to 'pawn' everyone.  Sadly the world has come to getting the best of everyone instead of giving your best.

There are definitely some "griefers" online here and there. Their joy is not in the game but purely in disruption.

Yeah, though since the Pigs mostly fly on our password protected server, we get none of that, and the few times I have flown on Finnish or Flugpark, I saw none of that nonsense, well except for the ground hugger on Flug that circled behind a tree line and attacked just as others were climbing out on takeoff.

We have a pretty hearty collection of young and old playing out there. Some of our older community members are absolute treasures. I love getting a chance to run a sortie with them.

 

Some folks simply lack the skill and patience to play online. But that's ok.

 

There's a reason these come with single player, personally I can't stand it.

I’m right behind you. 68 sounds younger every year! Unlike a real pilot, we don’t have  to worry they might pull our ticket. As long as someone is around to lead us to the computer chair and then help us out again getting back up, we’re good to go.

The 69th and John are my absolute favorite to fly with.

 

Honestly the online community is worth dealing with a few meatheads for. They're just as important as the game to me.
