RotorHead124 Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 I cannot determine if this has been released to Steam, Will be Released, and if so when, or has been discontinued. Any help on these issues?
J2_Trupobaw Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 FC1 is available on Steam. FC2 is in early access, and will be on steam once all content is in place (Q2 2022).
ShamrockOneFive Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Anticipated release date for both Flying Circus Vol 2 and IL-2: Battle of Normandy are roughly around Q2 sometime. I'm guessing end of Q2. 1
Avimimus Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Based on the developer updates: All of the aircraft should be released by Q1, but the map might not be finished until Q2 and the campaign requires the map to be largely finished before work can start implementing it. So the question is how long will programming the campaign and polishing take... I wouldn't be surprised if the steam release isn't delayed until Q3 (even if the map and all the aircraft are released by Q1 for people who pre-order through this website).

When it comes to "how long will the programming take"? Regardless of programming language, that is always an estimate. Programmers typically have a reasonably good idea of "approximatley" how long, but it is always subject to revision based upon many factors. Ie..staffing issues, unforseen obstacles, new technologies, etc... So as far as a rock solid date... wishful thinking.. its always an estimate.. It would appear however, that if a person wants the product as soon as its released, steam is not the way to go.. .02 Edited January 25, 2022 by RNAS10_Mitchell 1

From what I've read in public dev statements, the blockers for career mode are: 1) The map. 2) Normandy career mode, which is going to need the same people. 3) Normandy map (blocker for Normandy career). Once the Normandy map is done, Normandy career has priority. Hopefully it will re-use many components of other WW2 careers and will be pretty straightforward. Once that is done and (hopefully) FC2 map is also done, career devs can start making WW1 career. It will require completly different missions than WW2, hopefully these can be adapted from WW2 stuff or RoF (but again, hopefully we will get better mission profiles this time - in ROF everyone was flying RFC missions, which made no sense for anyone but RFC). Now, count the uses of word hopefully - these is where unexpected delays are hiding. Or not. Hopefully. 1
