Blitzen Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 (edited) Both in gameplay & in screenshots the aircraft images are very dark, the shadows are quite deep.In screenshots I have to go into photoshop to lighten them up to see detail. Is there an easy way to lighten them up in gameplay? Edited January 17, 2022 by Blitzen spelling
migmadmarine Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Just as a preliminary test, have you tried taking a screen shot and viewing it on a different monitor, to make sure that it's not an issue with your monitor settings? 1
kendo Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 If you have gamma set low (?), that won't be helping either

kendo Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 You can set it in Startup.cfg or in settings in game. Default is 1. But many people have it set lower as they think it helps with spotting.
Blitzen Posted January 16, 2022 Author Posted January 16, 2022 My Gamma was set at 0.0000, so I bumped it to 1.00000, and I'll try that . BTW here are two typical screen shots from Flying Colors .Its odd that I don't get such a great dark contrast in the BoX variations
AEthelraedUnraed Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 With "Flying Colors," I take it you mean "Flying Circus"? Those screenshots don't look especially strange to me. The weather doesn't appear very good; everything would be brighter if the sun were shining. Flying Circus runs on the exact same engine as BoX, so there's no reason why BoX would appear different.
BlitzPig_EL Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Judging by the screen shots I see in the Screen Shots forum, I'd say there are a lot of poorly calibrated monitors out there, and also a lot of misunderstanding about what gamma is. 1
Blitzen Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 Gamma is as Gamma does? I am one who doesn't understand Gamma. ...but changing it to "1" in Startup cfg. ( I'm not sure why but "In Game settings " its now1.5?) did make a lot of difference in Flying Circus shots. 1
kendo Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Strange that they are different. Maybe try setting to 1 in the in-game settings just to see what happens.
