Yes, I have Read the Getting Started manual

First question: When I run the Joystick Wizard, set each page and click on Save, what file is created/built? It tells me it is saving to Confuser.ini. After going through every screen and setting/saving each binding, I go to the confUser.ini file in the CODB folder, and none of my bindings is present. The bindings ARE working as I set them, so it's not that my controllers aren't being seen. How does the Wizard work, and where is it hiding the controls?

 

When I launch CODB in Steam and open the Controls, none of the bindings is correct, i.e. my ailerons and elevator are somehow assigned to my throttle (I have a Logitech X-56 HOTAS, which works fine, BTW, in the IL-2 Stalingrad, etc.), and I am not allowed to clear and change any of those assignments within CODB. I launch the 1st Training flight, and none of my controls are working.

 

This is frustrating, and there must be a better way of doing this.

Where is your game installed?

 

Is it on C Drive or another Drive?

C drive, with all of the other Steam apps, in the requisite folder.

Also, have you checked to see if Windows is numbering your joystick and other peripherals incorrectly?  Your joystick should be #1.

 

Make sure Windows is not allowed to turn off the power to the USB connections to your joystick and peripherals.

 

Make sure Steam is not allowing "Generic Gamepad Support"... see the link below for more details:

 

These solutions and others are covered in the 'Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide'... also covered is how to manually input your axes and keybindings for your joystick... which is what you should try if you are still having problems. 

 

Your issue is not one we haven't seen before... and the solutions can usually be found in the Guide.

I have a powered USB hub, and I also have the following controllers: Logitech X-56 HOTAS, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, Razer OrbWeaver, Thrustmaster Cougar MDFs (3), Logitech rudder pedals, and a generic XBox controller.

 I also run vJoy, so I'm not too sure I want to run yet another joystick emulation app.

 

What I'd like to know is why is there another confUser.ini file in the ...steamapps/common/IL-2Sturmovich Cliffs of Dover Blitz folder? And why my app is not using the correct one (see above) when I launch the game.

 

Also starting on page 21 of your guide, it says that all I have to do is double-click on the Command field and then use my controller to bind the new assignment. When I open CODB and open the Controls Option screen/Axes, there are already (wrong) assignments for my joysticks, and they will NOT clear. I cannot change them.

 

Seems to me, going through the INI files in my Documents folder that CODB is looking in the wrong place for these files. It certainly isn't looking here.

Can I delete the confUser.ini file and let CODB rebuild it? And if so, which one?

Yes, this multiple Documents folders is a problem which has occurred with others when using the game... there is a post about it on these forums in this Technical Assistance section if I am not mistaken.

 

I can't find it right now, but you might want to do a search for it as there is a for a solution to your problem noted there.
