Think about updating how the game recognizes controllers

Your going to have to with win 11.  Here's a little tip, whenever you reset your VR environment it also dumps other data, such as the order of your controllers.  Surprise, IL-2 doesn't recognize by type, only the order by the numbering.   And your going to have to reset VR every so many weeks, it drifts.  More pain for you, suck it up man.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. IL-2 does have a way of swapping your controller bindings when it picks up different joysticks.

When you boot up the game with a different joystick (like if you rename the device in the Virpil config tool), it'll say "Hey, Virpil WARBRD is gone, do you have a controller you want to map it to?" and then I can click "Virpil WarBRD1" or whatever the new device is called.

It's better than MSFS -- where you just lose you bindings...

Does anyone know what the limit is for the number of usb controllers IL-2 can "see"?

This was a problem I understand they fixed a long time ago. Yes the game used to just recognize a generic “joy_1” or “joy_2” and Windows 10 could scramble those numbers every time you restarted the machine. So now it recognizes device IDs or something. But I haven’t seen this problem reappear since then.
