Hi folks,

in game I have no influence to stear the radiator, looks like a big fat aircon in my face ?.

How to handle that?

Longer flight's in high alt makes the engine undercooling. When I have to reduce power the engine stops ?

Is it a bug or mistake did I miss something?

Thanks for any help!

Nope, it has no controls.

You can always report it as a bug via https://il2sturmovik.com/support/ , the snag being they insist on a screenshot.  Attach a shot with the onscreen instruments displayed, with a big arrow pointing at the temperature indicator.

Don't reduce throttle. If necessary, side slip to lose altitude while still going full power. You should be alright.

What Bidu said; keep the RPM as close to 1400 as you can all the time, use sideslips to prevent overreving if your angle of attack would cause you to exceed 1400, but keep the fires burning.

In practice these planes must have used some sort of automatic or manual thermostat system.  If nothing else, a thumbscrew clamp on one of the radiator hoses would have done the job.

My problem in one case:

My wings heavy damaged. So I reduced power because I was scared my wing breaks…

How ever, every solution in that moment seems wrong ☠️?

Next time I should simply bail out and the Kaiser have to live without recon pictures ??

DFW wings are actually pretty strong even when damaged. But yeah, in that situation, screw the engine and use Erlang approach.
