JV44HeinzBar Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 (edited) S!, I was thinking of skinning the interior of some panthers just to liven it up a bit. I was thinking of adding some graffiti to the compartments, maybe some pinup girls, etc. You know, stuff that soldiers would add to their equipment. I tried adding chalk marks to designate the different rounds by adding APCR, HE, etc. but it didn't work. The warheads are visible within the tank and on the template. However, when I started the sim, with a UVmap skin enabled, the corresponding alpha numeric codes do not show within the tank, nor do the chalked warheads. Has anyone else tried to paint the interior of the tank? If so, how did you do it if you were successful? TIA, HB PS, I found a thread that indicates no one has found a way to paint the interiors of tanks. Is this still true? The last post I found concerning this was 7/2021. Where are they located? Will skinning the interior cause the skin to be rejected by online servers because it might be seen as a MOD? Edit: I found unGTP-IL2, but it doesn't come with any instructions on how to use it. Could anyone please guide me on how to use this program? It looks to be old school DOS input type. Na-zdorovie Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 well to be fair it will only allow you to "modify some of the interior not like the walls as such mainly dials etc, you run it from the cmd prompt, dont worry about errors thats normal, but you will then get a folder called NULL, in data files, enter the destination in the propt though
MajorMagee Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 I created a special folder away from my IL2 install called unGTP-IL2. Inside I have a copy of unGTP-IL2.exe When a new update comes out I place copies of the new gtp files from :\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data there. Then I can just drag and drop any of the gtp files onto the exe file, it opens, and automatically unpacks the contents into a folder called (null) The (null) folder contains all of the files packed in that gtp already in their proper sub-folder locations. (very helpful if you later want to put them into a proper JSGME compatible Mod package) Renaming the (null) folder lets you keep each particular GTP's contents separate, and you can use it over time to archive each updates differing versions for a look back to previous editions for inspiration if you find a change in a new update that you are unhappy with.
JV44HeinzBar Posted January 12, 2022 Author Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) S!, I guess I'm dense. I see several different .gtp files (graphics1, graphics2, etc). However, I don't know what I should be doing. This is what I see when I open unGTP-IL2: unGTP v1.0b by AnKor. Original version Kegetys <http://www.kegetys.net> Extracts GTP packages from "IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of ..." Series Usage: unGTP-IL2 inputfile.gtp outputpath I honestly don't have a clue what to do next. BTW, I created a called unGTP-IL2 as suggested. HB Edited January 12, 2022 by JV44HeinzBar
MajorMagee Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) I don't run the exe and then try to get it to do anything. I just click/hold on one of the gtp flies, and drag it over the exe file, and then unclick the mouse button. This triggers the exe to run with the particular gtp already assigned as the target, and the file automatically unpacks. You can ignore the error when it gets to the end of the list, and just close the exe's command window by clicking the X up in the corner of the window. Edited January 12, 2022 by MajorMagee
