Save the player's Tactical Code

I love the Tactical Code feature, I'm using it as often as possible and I noticed some painpoints in the daily use: the selection system is slow + (the main topic) the reset of the player Tac Code each time.

 

I find Tac Code super useful for Virtual squadrons with custom skins : we will be able to reduce drasticaly the disk space needed by using the custom Tac Codes instead of X versions of a same skin.

Context

• The custom Tactical Code feature enables players selecting 3 chars with color.
• Players need to re-select everytime the Tac code, whereas most players use the exact same marking most of the time, (at least players I fly with).
• The selection system is quite slow (there is a latency on each char & color selection), and I see more and more players choosing to take off without spending the time using it - whereas they were super enthousiastic at first.

 

Suggestion

• Save the last player's tactical code.

 

It could be a global setting, like what's done for the convergence.

But it could also be per skin so that you set only once your favorite Tactical code & color for each skin (e.g. mettalic skins with blakc marking, green skins in white, no Tac Code on the historical skins that already got one etc)

 

Benefits

• Increased feature retention by saving players time before each flight.

yes! And repeating what I said on the official discord server: 
"what would be nice is that those skin/tactical codes parameters  would be saved in a text files accessible to players, in the game folder. This way we could also develop external tools to easily force every one at an event to have the right skins for instance"

A few months later, as we are all re applying every day, almost every flight, our exact same tac codes on our exact same favourite (or custom) skin, I allow myself this "up" to give it some more visibility.

 

Tac Codes are an awesome thing to improve MP coordination (may be loved in SP too, i don't know)

You are right. 
In our squadron, we often use the same tactical codes. And I think it's probably the same way for other squadrons.
To be able to save them, like convergence, is a simple but good idea.
