New to game, help updating

Just bought the game, can't update/patch game. I even tried during the weekend, any tips

If you just bought it, installed it and can run it now, it is up to date. Are you starting the game from the launcher? If so, any update will start automatically when published.

Any new Game Update information is posted on our Announcements Forums.

 

If you run your launcher.exe, it will automatically update the game if there is one.

The game figures it out for you when you press "Play" on the launcher.

I mean how does he (specifically) know? does the game say "update" and it just doesn't work?

Not sure of the internals of the launcher. I imagine that the game phones home to see if there is a new version.   It knows what version is on the disk.  it probably calls a web service to find out what the latest version is and does an update if needed.  Whatever the mechanics, updates happen automatically when you use the launcher.

There is a 'Updates' folder in your game. The launcher.exe checks your game version and if it isn't current an update ensues. (Non Steam)

I get what you mean, and are probably right. I ask because he is a new user (at least on the forums) and what makes him think the game isn't working correctly is what makes me curious. Maybe he launches the game and sees the locked planes and thinks is an update issue, or maybe he gets an error message saying that the game failed to update. just trying to get more info to see if I can help in any way.

 Not sure it’s a big issue for the OP, because as of now, he hasn’t checked back in since he started this thread. Hopefully he figured it out. Of course, spontaneous human combustion should never be discounted in cases like this.

First off, bought the game from the IL 2 Sturmovik website, got the great battles version. When I click the desktop shortcut a rectangle box will appear with the game name at the top with, Site, Forum, agreement, support and settings. and at the bottom it says, Download Game Client (2.16kb/35.12 GB) O/s 

 

Is the Great Battles a stand alone game or is it an add-on, not sure what going on, I know im missing something, just not sure what it is

Funny yes, but no, I haven't burst into flames, at least not yet

Then all you need to do is download the Game Client. Once done, click on the Launcher and your game will download and self install. It's really quite simple.

Where can I find the game client, I was under the assumption that all I needed to do was DL the game.

Uhm, click the button you mentioned that appears at the bottom and says "Download Game Client"?

I did, it's stuck at 2.76 K/B's, it won't budge, I can't even click it

 

I think i may have to send a ticket in

 

 

 

 

Do you think this may be the problem?, do I manually have to choose the port or does it do it automatically

Found out why the Game Client wouldn't DL, I have 3 HD in my computer, when I installed the game the installer sent it to my smallest HD, so basically not enough room, I uninstalled programs and now I have barely enough room for this game.

Now my next question, is it possible to transfer the game to my larger HD without uninstalling the game, and if that's not possible, how would I go about reinstalling the game, does IL2 allow that, I'm kinda in the dark on this one

I am now stuck, I've deleted as much as I can from my HD and I still don't have enough room to finish the installation, any suggestions

Yes you can copy and paste the game to a larger HD. You can also reinstall it to a larger HD. You can have multiple installs too though you can only run one at a time obviously.

Thanks for all your help guys, I went and found the game installer and I installed it on my large HD, now I have to figure out delete the unfinished install on my smaller HD
