My computer's days are numbered, can I copy tank crew to a new computer?

I gotta say I miss the good ol days when games were in CD/DVD form and complete (aside from add-ons and mods).

I'm thinking of getting into tank crew because it seems to be the first worthy successor to panzer elite. The graviteam games I worry are buggy and I'm not sure but they look like more strategy and not really sims?

Anyways, I'm assuming when you buy the game it is a download. Can I move it to the new system after I upgrade in a month or so ?  I got no response from my IL-2 support. Thanks.

Salutations,

Yes, the game modules are downloads.

Yes, you can move everything to a new system. You purchase it, you own it. One should be able to completely copy everything from one computer to another computer or re-download everything owned to a new computer. :salute:

Fast response !

Thanks, I'm in then.

Hope to enjoy some good tanking in the near future.

I wonder if the terrain is also different from my IL-2 stuff ?

(I'm not up to date on all the updates from last few years).

Tank strategy is very interesting when you consider hills valleys trees, etc.

As an aside, if anyone can recommend a ww2 strategy game for a beginner, hopefully with an ability to generate new missions or maps?

Too many questions, sorry.

yes you can copy the game form one computer to another or one partition to another but o you cannot use it to play until you log into IL2 and reinstall the game. I know because I tried doing it v creating a back up copy on an external ssd and trying t play with ti and I got the message to log in and reinstall. It's a digital installation no matter copying the game files.

Yes, you can install the IL2 on multiple computers, but only run the application from one computer at a time. This seems to be the model most Steam (and non-Steam) game developers are following. But, you cannot "copy" the game folder between systems, like moving a CD in the old days, as it needs to be properly installed. However, you can copy your saved games between computer systems (albeit that's a pain if you're not computer-savvy). I wish could figure out how to leverage a cloud storage so saved games/campaigns/missions would be available to all my computers. I have a laptop for portable gaming and a desktop for home use.

Not quite correct. You only purchase a user license. You don't really own your game. You are not allowed to sell your game.

Making a purchase just adds a license to your account.  The game itself is a full download of all parts - WWI planes, WWI planes, tanks, everything.  You get it all when you download.  You can download and install in as many places as you want.  The licenses determine what you can and cannot do with the game.

What do you mean by strategy? Are you looking for an RTS , turn-based game or simulator ? Are you looking for a large scale or small scale one?  Here's the link to an article which lists the bets WW2 games (in their opinion). I like their list because it combined various types/formats of WW2 strategy games. Many of these games I own.

I'm mostly a fan of simulators but I thought it would be nice to own a ww2 strategy game.

I think rts refers to real time strategy? that sounds good.

Just looking for one with decent AI, decent graphics (some 3d and not just viewing from top down), and not too difficult in the beginning for beginners.

Thanks again for the replies !

Don't copy it.  Just down load it again.  It's all about the license and not the game itself.  Your license is in the books at 1C.  Download, log in the first time which willpull your license, and your good.
