MeganeX. OLED displays and up to 120Hz 2560x2560 for SteamVR via USB Cable.

Pancake Optics, with dioptre adjustment feature, made by Kopin.

No mention of FOV but the second site link, below, had the following "Kopin's world’s first all-plastic Pancake optics (named P95) optimized for Kopin's 1.3" 2.6K x 2.6K OLED microdisplay provide a large field of view (equivalent to > 200 inches viewed from 3-m distance) and offer better image quality, much smaller size, lighter weight and lower cost than anything previously available".

Based on my, albeit very rusty, trig calculations that is equivalent to a horizontal FOV of about 80 degrees (200 inches being pretty close to 5 Metres)

Will the MeganeX get further than the 2020 and 2021 versions from Panasonic?

My personal immediate reaction is that with a design like that FOV will be even more limited than todays headsets.

The 4 new headsets, especially in their price range, may make holding onto a €2300 (US$2600) Varjo Aero order unfeasible. I always put acquisition vs resale price to get my costs for headsets, as I eventually don't keep them.

The resale price with the Aero is already under heavy pressure if you look at the market of 2022.

I will have to contemplate regarding this, and I am certain, many others here as well.

Not sure that I see any of these headsets as a competitor/ replacement for the Aero.

The Apple and PSVR 2 ones are unlikely to ever work with a PC.

Meta is just facebook, privacy invasion, all over again and am really not sure how much interest they have for PC VR.

The Pimax 12K is interesting and may turn up eventually but I would not expect to see it any time this year (2022)

Agreed 100%, plus Pimax is out of question for me, I would never buy anything from them no matter what they make.

Yeah same here.

You got some points there.

What remains interesting too will be the arpara. Recently they buffed its brightness. Wonder how that'll turn out.

I do love the true OLED blacks and colors, honestly.

Why so much resentment towards PiMax? Is it the quality of the product or the company's policy?
I have the 8Kx and am very happy with it.
That doesn't mean I'll buy the 12K as I'm very tempted by Arpara with their screens, lenses and diopter adjustment, Although I'm sure I'll miss some degrees of FoV.

Saludos.

For me personally I have just never cared for their marketing technique. ie two 4k displays does not equal an 8k image etc.

Some more details about the P95 lenses and OLED microdisplays used for the MeganeX

https://www.kopin.com/kopin-corporation-announces-all-plastic-pancake-optics-with-excellent-performance/

Claimed diagonal FOV of 95 degrees for the lenses, in the above article, but does not specifically refer to the MeganeX.

This is pretty small FOV compared most other VR headsets, wonder if the image quality can overcome the diagonal FOV limitation.

Would note that the Varjo Aero claims a diagonal FOV of 134 degrees.

Added Aero diagonal FOV for comparison
