danomite Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 I just received my first VR headset, a Reverb G2. Loving the increased immersion over TIR! But I can't for the life of me figure out how to bind a zoom axis. I have an axis bound in 2D using a slider on my throttle, but that doesn't seem to have any effect in VR. How do the VR zoom controls work?
Drum Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) Grats, danomite! In VR you can't use an axis for zoom, you need to use the five zoom settings just below the axis zoom. They are zoom minimum, zoom 1, zoom 2, zoom 3, and zoom maximum or similarly named like that, forget exactly right now. Edited January 5, 2022 by Drum
danomite Posted January 5, 2022 Author Posted January 5, 2022 Thanks! I've only flown in single player so far, but it is a big step up from TIR immersion-wise. You can't use an axis for zoom in VR?? Seems crazy that such a basic functionality is missing from VR, when it is present in the regular 2D game. Are there plans to implement the zoom axis for VR? I suppose I can use the Virpil configuration tool to remap my zoom axis as six buttons depending on the axis value, and bind five of those buttons to the zoom levels. That would approximate a zoom axis. Absurd that I have to do such a thing when the axis bind is right there though.
Drum Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 True, and because of that I personally only setup two zooms; a short range one for over your shoulder spotting to maximize the sweet spot edges so I don't have to turn completely 180 looking to rear, and the maximum zoom for long range ID'ing. You timed you're getting of the G2 perfectly as the game's last main patch has improved the games clarity and performance greatly. It's even better once you train yourself to look around like an owl. ? Make sure you also get NobiWan's NeckSafer mod: 1
