Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant - Control issues

My main issue is the trim wheel will recognize in the IL-2 bindings assignment menu, but does not work in flight. I also know the gear handle doesn't work how you'd like. I'm sure Joy2key or Voiceattack could alleviate these issues. Just wondering if the development team had a plan to do an overhaul on the controls menus. I love IL-2 but the key bindings menu is starting to feel dated. Would love to search for certain key binds, have different profiles, etc.

I had the same problem until I used VJoy in connection with Joystick Gremlin. Now the wheel works just perfect.

There's a common misconception with trim binding that could be causing your problem.

There are three different elevator trim controls available for binding:

- Elevator trim axis

- Elevator trim switch: up

- Elevator trim switch: down

And there are also three different stabilizer controls:

- Adjustable stabilizer axis

- Adjustable stabilizer switch: pitch up

- Adjustable stabilizer switch: pitch down

These controls are NOT interchangeable.  Make sure you have them all bound, as it could be that you're trying to use elevator trim in an aircraft with an adjustable stabilizer, or using the switch control in an aircraft that uses an axis controller, etc.

The problem with the Honeycomp trim wheel is, that it is not an axis. Instead it creates many button pushes and releases when spun.

But IL2 expects either an axis or the constant push of a button. So what you need to do is, to translate the button pushes of the wheel to an axis movement of a virtual device.

Therefore you need vjoy (virtual Joystick) and Joystick Gremlin (Input translation tool). I have attached Screenshots from Joystick Gremlin how it is done.

Actually now every button push creates a movement of the virtual x-axis by 1,5% (respec. -1,5%)

I  then had to manually edit the input file of IL2 to the vjoy device. Because when spinning the wheel in the Ingame settings, IL2 still recognized the button pushes instead of the vjoy x-axis.

Looks complicated but works perfectly now. The 1,5% setting correspondes almost identical with the movement of the trim wheel you see in the cockpit (Flying a bf109 currently)
