Ballantine Books

my copy the 1966 english translation..

The author mentions that the FW 190 was fitted with a fragmentation bomb, that wasnt a single bomb, but a dummy casing filled with bundles of small he/frag bombs. Going by teh photo in the book each one was 2 to 5 kilos in wieght.

DO we get something like that, as after Autumn 1940 it was supposedly STANDARD issue to carry

What is being referred about is probably the AB500 cluster bomb, which indeed was a common sight on many ground attack Foke-Wulfs along with the usual SC500.

It could be loaded with either 10kg (20/30) or 1-2 kg (around 300) fragmentation bomblets or incendiary ones.  Indeed it would be nice to see it in game

the picture of one being built/installed on the plane doesnt include a model number, but in the photo its like someone cut a 2foot diameter cardboard tube open and is inserting bundles of bomblets into it.

It would make bombing alot more fun..

The DCS Anton has cluster bombs. Maybe we'll eventually get them here:

  • AB 250 cluster bomb with SD 10A submunition
  • AB 250 cluster bomb with SD 2 submunition
  • AB 500 cluster bomb with SD 10A submunition

Wonder if they could make us a 1800 kilo version for the stuka.

Now that we have infantry (albeit rarely used, though some servers such as Wing Walkers have done a great job implementing them), I think it'd be cool to have specific reasons to take bombs like this, and also the 70kg german fragmentation bombs that are used in place of the 50kg bombs.
