More challenging (lower) ceiling and visibility

As we now have radionavigation available for many aircraft in the IL-2 Sturmovik, I would like to suggest increasing the visibility range and ceiling range by lowering the minimum visibility down to approx. 2000 m and the minimum base to 200 m, or maybe even a bit less. I would also add Nimbostratus as another cloud type. This would allow for the creation of more demanding transport missions and more demanding returns to the base from any kind of mission, using radio navigation for instrument approach - which is definitely more demanding than simple cloud break during descent (currently no less than 500 m at the inlet).

If only we did not have so many short-attention-span teenagers playing the game now. ?

I remember one of the servers introducing low cloud and horrible visibility and I loved it but they had to remove that map again because so many people complained that they could no longer hover at 30K and drop on people below to earn their diamonds and oak leaves.  Others complained that it made it too hard to find a furball within 2 minutes of take-off.   I blame the teenagers but that is unfair as I know that many of the people complaining were at or near retirement age.

Fair comment. In FPS, seems kids prefer instant action like Call of Duty and Fortnite twitch shooters. My nephew doesn't like playing Battlefield games because you need to run/drive to an objective.

Im sure there is empty server with more demanding weather, if all players who like that type of play just play on that server insted joining most popular server, you would for sure have place to play.

But for some reason all type of players join just most popular servers insted server with settings for them.

But yes blame it on kids behavior lol

Even the most popular servers occasionally run bad weather. Finnish Virtual Pilots throws the occasional bad weather day in there and the gnashing of teeth from a few would make it sound like you ruined their favourite game forever. I, on the other hand, think its terrific when they do that as it offers new challenges and changes tactics from the normal into some new and sometimes unpredictable ways.

Yes, those pesky kids ruin everything!

Never mind that in real world weather socked in?

Planes don’t fly....?

Oh no! Millennials will develop Quake (or any other 90s multiplayer shooter for that matter)!!! The world is ruined! Things were so much better back then. In fact, the first multiplayer shooter ever was Operation Flashpoint and everyone played it in a carefully thought out matter using real world tactics!

Just the other day I logged in to Combat Box to see completely overcast weather from about 500m clear up to 10k or so.  I had a blast.  Took a P47 for a bombing run and then flew instruments up through the clouds to enjoy a glorious cloud hopping journey back to base. Later on took a 109 for a patrol which resulted in a nice dogfight with a Spitfire at extremely low level.  Something I almost never do.

It was very atmospheric and I would love to see more of that type of thing in the mission rotations.

I have put some pretty heavy clouds, with rain and or snow on most of the maps I host for the BlitzPigs.  It has made our missions much more immersive, and added a new dimension of difficulty, which everyone seems to like and enjoy.  But then, we are a bunch of old guys that have been "flying" the IL2 series from almost the beginnings back in 2001.

I love bad weather - adds another “character” to the mission. Good stuff.

Some people don’t like things that evens the odds.
