Hi all,

What virtual reality glasses do you recommend?

Good that.

I am studying what virtual reality glasses would you recommend me considering that I will use them in flight with the il2 sturmovik and also in other shutter combat games like ARMAIII and also with car driving video games like the asseta corse or others.

If you recommend several, please tell me which one is better for the games of the future and that it works well in IL2.

Thank you very much in advance.

The best VR is the Reverb G2  ( you need a good computer/Gpu as well )

But now the Varjo VR is coming and I'm curious about that one ...

It doesn´t exist "a best" VR headset since it depends on your preferences, your PC and your budget.

Please, let us know what is your PC specs and we can make better recomendations.

For example, I perfer the Index over the G2 because I prefer to have larger FOV and edge-to-edge clarity, but lower resolution than the G2.

Here you have my comparison of the G2 and Index just for IL-2:

Your VR headsets candidates would be: Reverb G2 (500€), Valve Index(540€ only headset), Varjo Aero (pre-order 2000€ only headset) and HTCVivePro2 (780€ only headset). For the Index, HTCVP2 and Aero you will need to add the two Valve controllers (300€) and Two basestations (320€)

Given that next years Facebook (Meta) will not require a Facebook account for the owners of the Quest2, you might also consider the Quest2. But I have no experience with that headset.

The panel resolutions are:

For flight and racing sims Reverb G2 is hard to beat - if you have a fairly decent rig.

I would not recommend the Reverb G2 - even though I use it myself - because you mentioned you want to play shooters too. The tracking is extremely frustrating.

Given that, I'd recommend either the Index HMD (full set $1000), Vive Pro 2 (full set $1200 and minimum an RTX 3080), or a Quest 2 (full set $580 including WiFi 6 Router + bobovr m2 pro headstrap + m2 pro replacement battery).

:excl:Y el más importante, iisólo!! compra con derecho a devolución.. nombre implica España -> Europa --- entonces sera facil... mucha suerte y pásalo bien:hunter:

HP supposed has improved the cameras on the new G2's.  I can not say though how good they are.

Yes I think it should be clear whether comments are about the original G2 or the recently revised version which has addressed or largely addressed the known tracking issue among other improvements. Also, in some ways at least, isn’t it a little difficult to compare $1,000 plus headsets to the sub $500.00 G2?

Should mention that the improved tracking version of the G2 is only available in the U.S.

Other markets, apparently, still get the original version.

Weird decision by HP.

It's been said many times that the tracking volume near the user has not increased noticeably.

The tracking accuracy for shooter play at close range near the body should still be insufficient.

Also, what Steve said is true as well.

It certainly makes no sense to me that the new version is not available to everyone. Very odd decision by hp. As for the tracking I’ve seen reviews in which the tracking is no longer a significant issue for shooters or other game types. But I will concede there is better tracking to be had elsewhere.

I use a Reberb G2 for IL2 / DCS / FS2020 and a Quest 2 for all other VR.  I'm disappointed with the Quest 2 for Simming, and disappointed with the G2 for hand tracking. Both have a place in my house.

My current preference is Vive Pro 2 for most of my games, Reverb G2 for MSFS2020 ( due to using Open XR).

Hello i currently use Quest 2 for IL2 , why are you disappointed from Quest2 for shimming? you think that changing from QUEST2 to G2  would make a great upgrade to me? or should i wait for new VR headsets to appear in 2022? (i own rtx 3060 ti  ,36 gb ram..)

Thank you.

The Q2 has higher performance demands due to video compression running ontop of the rendering, and it produces visual artifacts. The G2, if you have a rig to run it at higher resolution simply offers so much better visual clarity. I recommend the 3dprinted facial interface to open up the FoV more too on the G2.  If you ONLY use the Q2 for simming, then yeah, I think the G2 is much better. If you use it for ANY roomscale VR that requires good hand tracking, then no, the Q2 is the better option.  Like I said above. I have and use both.

Thank you Syphen for your reply!

With my current rig i run Quest 2 at 2700x2700 steamvr final resolution , getting 60-70 fps , 4xMSAA , FSR ( renderscale 0.8 and sharpness 0.9 ) , il2 ingame ultra settings , shadows off , mirrors off, clouds quality to medium , postsharpen=0, HDR=ON , SSAO=OFF, 4K TEXTURES =on).

As you can see, i currently set ingame graphics to 4xMSAA with Q2 (view is ugly without it), so i suspect that using G2 you can set MSAA to OFF or just use 2xFXAA.

That would be a big performance gain for my rtx 3060ti.

So what do you think,  is my rig able to run IL2 through G2 at higher resolutions than 2700x2700 like say 3000x3000 at decent fps (70-80)?

Thank you.

And your IPD and head fits within the G2's range.

I'm a 71mm so I have real problems using the Reverbs or anything recent, except The Vive Pro 2.

But, if you've got a smaller IPD the VP2 would be a huge pain, and its got other risks and issues.

So step 1 is measure your eyes and head, and figure out what actually will properly fit you, then pick from that pool.

I'm really happy with the Vive Pro 2 for both simulations and other genres. I've gone Vive then Index (briefly) and now Vive Pro 2 and I don't regret the upgrade, it's really awesome.
