FifteenthAF1944 Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 (edited) Love the post on Brig. Gen. McGee's plane. Awesome man!!! One of his planes was 43-25172 P-51 C 10 NT, Fuselage #78. If there is a P-51 B, I am archiving the entire Fifteenth Air Force Bombers and Fighters which the Tuskegee Airmen were a part of. Thank you for the add. I have someone creating a image of the P-51 C to use on a 20 x 30 poster I am creating to honor Brig. Gen. McGee that will hang in the new FBO at Moton Field, Tuskegee, Alabama about 20 minutes or less from me. Edited May 31, 2022 by FifteenthAF1944 1

Love the paint scheme but it appears this was created before they added the shine layer and when I flew it, the paintwork/noseart/USAAF markings became quite transparent 1 2

Thanks for advance. I tell you. But could you get me the letters that you have used in the skin of "The Deacon"? In "The Deacon" is "QP-J" I need "QP-M". Please ? Edited June 14, 2022 by Reptilian

The good news for you is that I made the QP-M one week later than the QP-J. Just cut, paste, resize them,...
Sobilak Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 We need some skins for P-51B RAF 316 squadron BON career. Can anybody make it? 1
Rjel Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 (edited) WIP. P-51B 42-106462 "U've Had It!" flown by Lt. John England of the 357thFG as it appeared just prior to D-Day. Finished (almost) with the later paint scheme that had the full D-Day markings as flown by then Capt. England in June, July and into August of 1944. Not happy with the bomb (mission) markers on the cowl. Too small still but with the template it might not be possible to make them the correct size. I'm going to try it right now. It was precisely because I am doing the skin "turnip termite". 1
spudkopf Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) I've been working on a Mk III skin for myself, choosing to do CV-W, FB283 of 3 Squadron RAAF, which was based in Italy 44-45, I have modified the existing RAF scheme of the template to closer resemble the RAF / TO scheme. Of note is the factory substituted US paints types in lieu of the RAF ones specified, most notable of which is the use of olive green over the use of dark green. The upper wing and fuselage roundels have also been changed. It is still a work in progress however as I need to sort out some pesky alpha layer issues. spudkopf Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) Reworked CV-W some, matched the OD green to that found on default Shangri La skin (old one was too brown), resized and repositioned the upper and lower wing roundels and re-coloured and reshaped all the roundels as well, tried to eliminate as best I could that pesky tonal line where the side fuselage textures mate to those of the under surfaces, this is most notable directly under the fuselage roundels. Still some tweaking to to do though. Edited July 18, 2022 by spudkopf 1 1
