GOZR Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 It would be very good if the clouds ground shadows would be darker , more pronounced like in real.. this give a great effect and sense of reality. I made a mod long ago for DCS adding darker clouds ground shadows .. they listened and they made it .. look much better so I can imagine for IL2 it would be a great benefit. 2
G_GART Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 You can do it yourself, just use unGTP-IL2.exe and extract Sky.gtp, find the folders (summer and winter) .. \ graphics \ sky \ summer and .. \ graphics \ sky \ winter from extracted files, inside these folder you have different weather config .ini files for each weather variety, open these files and find "shadows = 0.8" this determines the Contrast of clouds shadows on the terrain, increasing its value (for example, shadows = 2.0) will give darker clouds shadows. I do not know how much you can increase this variable! maybe to 2.0 or 4.0, do a mod and test it. or download my test mod here>>> https://www.mediafire.com/file/kqom93jewc11btw/Darker_Cloud_Shadow.rar/file Just unrar(extract) foder named "Darker_Clouds_Shadows" to your MODS folder, it works if you choose "02_medium_07" in MB as cloud config. If you want a mode for all weather conditions you should change this variable in all .ini files that are in the folders summer and winter! NOTE: This mode will not work if you have another cloud mode, you must first deactivate your cloud mode if you use one! Good luck 1
GOZR Posted January 8, 2022 Author Posted January 8, 2022 Thanks , Noted if I do this I have to use Mods and cannot connect to regulars servers .. This is a subjects we talked on DCS a long ago and now it's main stream.. it need to happen for Il2 .. there is no depth as for now.. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314242/ The rest is History
rowdyb00t Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 If you make the shadows more that 1.0 they will be darker than all objects shadows. For example, if you are on a runway under a cloud shadow, the outline for the plane shadow will be lighter.
