Already searched the internet, and this forum for this, no luck.  Got a great new set of Virpil Ace Rudder pedals.

They are updated with firmware, recognized by windows, calibrated in the VPC sorftware and in windows.  However when I try to assign the Z-axis to my Yaw binding it doesn't work.  Already tried a "fix" where you delete the text file for current devices.  No joy.

Anyone seen this with Virpil Rudders and IL-2?

Thanks.

I knew if I posted here I would figure it out.  Thanks!

It should be recognized if you move the pedals back and forth for a while, it can take quite some time before the game reacts and recognizes the movement! If it hasn´t after a minute or so try with restarting your PC and try again. report back when you´re finished.

IL-2 BoX has a limit of 8 devices; make sure the pedals aren't the ninth.

Also, and just to be sure, are the pedals recognized by Windows and/or any other software?

Multiple restarts and profile updates to the pedals.  Not sure what fixed it, but now they work.  But the game now has recognized the right toe pedal as the P-axis, which is also the name of my Warthog throttle mixture axis.  So I can control mix with my right foot or the throttle...yay.

Any idea how to rename the Right toe pedal axis in the VPC?

Warthog Throttle, Stick (with F/A-18 add-on), Virpil Ace pedals, and Track IR.  That's it.

All recognized by Windows and the VPC.  Like I said above, I don't know what I did but just kept trying, and it eventually broke loose and started working with the added axis bonus.

One of our guys just got a new high end computer and on it the game won't recognize the CH set he has used for years to fly the sim with.

Something is fishy.

Hello,

If Windows sees it and it’s not the ninth device plugged in as mentioned it will work. But you must make sure it’s assigned to the right axis in the Key Mapping screen. We have no wide spread reports of devices not being recognized. Our default assignments don’t usually jive with what everyone wants. Just too many combinations out there to get it right, right off the bat.

Hi,

I had a similar issue few weeks ago. I have multiple USB devices and after I plugged one of them into a different USB port it wasn't recognized by IL-2 anymore. Meanwhile, everything was still looking good on Windows.

I figured out the reason was this 8 devices limit. In order to fix it I completely cleared the entries from the device list file below. I also notice that file had multiple entries for some of my devices.

\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input\devices.cfg

Since I removed everything I had to reassign all the keys, but at least I had it working again. Now I have labels on all cables to make sure I'm always connecting them on the same ports. Maybe you can try something less agressive like removing only the entries for the control that is no longer recognized.

This thread has a good discussion on this regard:

I hope it helps...
